Engineering manager is a rare breed: an experienced engineer who excels at communication, team leadership, cross-functional collaboration and domain expertise. As the iOS Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for growing, mentoring, and leading our iOS team to deliver the best mobile experience in the health and wellness space.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Advocate for and be the voice of engineers
  • Schedule 1-to-1 meetings, help engineers define career goals, conduct annual performance reviews
  • Promote knowledge-sharing across our iOS engineering teams in New York, San Francisco, and elsewhere
  • Recruitment: devise technical exercises, phone-screen candidates, conduct on-site interviews
  • Provide technical oversight to product-driven crews from a mobile client perspective
  • Be a touchpoint for technical inquiries from product managers, scrum masters, and customer support
  • Unblock other team members by finding solutions to complex problems
  • Perform code, security, and architectural reviews
  • Enforce coding standards and best practices within the mobile engineering team
  • Participate in WW hackathons and tech summits
  • Help drive initiatives that improve process, retention, and team morale
Goals / Deliverables:
  • Oversee migration to in-house MVI architecture to decouple code and facilitate testing
  • Evangelize WW's iOS team in meetups, conferences, blogs, etc. to drive recruitment
  • Drive ongoing automation of mobile builds and releases (CI/CD)
Requirements:
  • 6+ years of full lifecycle iOS development
  • Experience leading a team of mobile engineers
  • Strong track record of shipping products
  • Excellent command of iOS (Foundation, UIKit, WatchKit, AVFoundation, Core Graphics, Core Animation, etc.) and functional programming
  • Experience writing unit and/or UI tests with XCTest and related tools
  • Ability to facilitate high-level technical decisions (e.g., CI/CD, third-party tools and frameworks)
  • Understanding of client-server networking (e.g., REST, GraphQL)
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, API design, and architectural patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVI)
  • Nuanced understanding of agile methodology and Scrum software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Advanced debugging skills and knowledge of common analytic tools and techniques
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience collaborating with Product, Design, and UX to deliver the best outcome for everyone
