    What is The Role:

Elastic is looking for a Principle Competitive Intelligence Manager to join our Product Marketing organization, supporting our Search/Vector DB/Platform solution. In this role, you will report to the Director of Competitive Intelligence and play a critical part in driving our go-to-market success by analyzing the competitive landscape and delivering actionable insights to our sales, marketing, and product teams. You will be at the center of key efforts to position Elastic’s Search/Vector DB solutions against competitors, helping field and partner teams succeed in a constantly evolving market.

The ideal candidate brings a strong mix of technical and business insight, particularly in Search/Vector DB and related fields, such as observability or app dev platforms. You thrive in ambiguity, think critically, and can dive deep to deliver valuable insights. You excel at communicating across levels, from technical experts to senior executives, and are skilled at turning data into impactful messaging for different audiences.

    What You Will Be Doing:

    • Support the Director in building and implementing an effective competitive intelligence program, focusing on Elastic’s leading Search/Vector DB platform.
    • Track, analyze, and communicate competitive developments, providing timely and impactful responses to market changes and competitor actions.
    • Build compelling enablement materials, such as battle-cards, competitor bulletins, and positioning slides, to highlight Elastic's differentiation in the Search/Vector DB space.
    • Collaborate on the Win/Loss program efforts, analyzing data to advise sales strategies and product decisions.
    • Develop a deep understanding of the Search AI/Vector DB market, including competitive dynamics and SWOT evaluations.
    • Provide actionable insights to the sales and solutions engineering teams to improve their competitive positioning.
    • Collaborate closely with marketing, product management, and sales to craft competitive positioning strategies and influence product roadmap development.
    • Participate in industry events to supervise trends and keep the organization advised of competitive shifts and market opportunities.

    What You Bring:

    • Strong analytical skills to assess competitive strategies and propose effective responses.
    • Ability to synthesize sophisticated technical information and distill key insights for different partners.
    • Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and visual—to effectively share competitive insights and positioning strategies.
    • Proven success in roles such as sales engineering, technical marketing, or competitive analysis, preferably within the database/Search or adjacent industries.
    • Ability to build relationships and work optimally with teams across the company, including sales, marketing, engineering, and leadership.
    • Experience translating technical features into compelling business value for diverse audiences.
    • A technical degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent experience is helpful but not required.
