The role is in the Platform Organization within the Product Design and Manufacturing Solutions division. This team defines and builds the software platform on which the Fusion 360 family of products is based.  

We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our Pune workplace team and help us fulfill the mission of the organization which is to drive developer productivity, cross-platform device independence, and software platform consistency. 

Responsibilities 

• Develop high-quality, secure, stable code for use in Fusion 360 products and implement guidance to customers to experience full products capabilities.

• Ensure new code conforms to established coding standards and meets the design specifications.

• Demonstrate impact and influence across teams outside of the direct organization.

• Contribute significantly to large-scale, intricate projects involving multiple engineers and cross-functional teams.

• Spearhead solutions for uncertain milestones, from requirement clarification and scope planning to ensuring delivery.

• Influence cross-functional teams and contribute to large-scale projects.

• Be a role model for working in the production codebase to deliver high-quality, secure, and stable code.

• Write technical design documents, participate in design and code reviews, develop task estimates, and document code.

• Work with an extended team of software developers, QAs and product designers in the US and other worldwide engineering sites.

• Lead team initiatives and drive key business outcomes.

• Lead technical discussions and incident resolutions.

• Mentor junior engineers on the team and act as a technical lead in areas of your expertise.

• Act as a Subject Matter Expert, make significant contributions to design.

• Utilize expertise in technologies with a strong grasp of key design principles.

• Design solutions with a focus on performance, scalability, resiliency, and cost.

• Program in C++ using MS Visual Studio on Windows and Xcode on macOS.

• Takes ownership of tasks, stays self-aware, and proactively reaches out for solutions.

• Ability to design and implement complex software systems independently and rapidly demonstrate ideas through POCs. 

 
Minimum Qualifications 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other relevant engineering discipline.

• 8+ years of professional C++ programming experience.

• Expertise in C++. Real hands-on project experience is a must. 

• Experienced in JavaScript.

• Excellent knowledge of software and application design and architecture. 

• Part of a large distributed team with significant responsibility. 

• Ability to write good design documents.

• Ability to cultivate consensus and alignment within and across teams.

• Outstanding programming, debugging, problem-solving skills and make sound architectural decisions. 

• Proficient in Design Patterns and strong Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills.

• Good knowledge of data structures, algorithms and STL.

• Strong experience and understanding of working on Agile processes like SCRUM 

• Ability to learn new technologies quickly.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

Preferred Qualifications 

• Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review.

• Familiar with cross-platform application development using Visual Studio on Windows and Xcode on macOS.

• Experience with JIRA & GIT.

• Experience working with ReactJS, PHP.

• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs is a plus.

• Ability to learn large software systems quickly.

• Leadership experience as a Team Lead or Tech Lead in previous roles.
