The Release Manager role is part of the global team. Working in collaboration with CoE leaders and the Product Leads affiliated to the CoEs, the Release Manager will manage the release of products and offerings from planning, orchestrating CoE and SPI scrum managers as needed.

 

Adherence to timeline, budget and acceptance criteria is a core responsibility along with documenting and tracking commitments from critical dependency groups for risk management.

 

The team) has three responsibility dynamics which can be summarised as Project Management , Product Lifecycle Management and Operational Effectiveness & (PMO), where PLM encompasses release management and E2E GTM value chain management. 

 

Project Management 

  • Responsible for planning, organizing, managing, controlling, and communicating on all aspects of a project within the time, cost and quality thresholds set
  • Facilitates the development of project artefacts and/or any other documentation in collaboration with the project team
  • Facilitates interlocks with sales, marketing and global sales enablement
  • Facilitates the identification of project resource requirements and works with Project Resource Scheduler to define and construct project teams
  • Facilitates regular core team meetings to review risks, issues and monitors project health and progress
  • Creation of regular Project Status Reports and distributes them accordingly
  • Manages and controls costs to drive financially healthy projects
  • Responsible for managing large size projects (as described in the Project Profile Matrix) supporting the Delivery Lead in customer engagements for SoftwareOne
  • Identifies and develops new opportunities within current project supporting early qualification and opportunity assessment
  • Provides training to team members and assists them with their professional development
  • Achieves operational objectives by contributing information and preparing and completing action plans, implementing productivity, quality, and customer-service standards
  • Responsible for leading and supporting the project team as required on all live projects
  • Guarantees performance of the teams, and ensure that guidelines client's and organization's frameworks are met
  • Responsible for directly managing multiple projects

 

Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)

  • Oversee the end-to-end release process, including version control, progress, risks & dependencies, and deployment activities.
  • Define and implement release management best practices, tools, and methodologies to optimize efficiency and quality.
  • Monitor and report on release progress, identifying and addressing any issues or bottlenecks that may impact delivery timelines. 
  • Create and continuously evolve the release management processes for different types of launches
  • Contribute to and maintain standard definitions
  • Educate stakeholders on the process
  • Help prioritize launch events (eg: dates for communications) to avoid conflicts / confusion

 

Operational Effectiveness & (PMO).

  • Responsible for aligning all assigned projects to global project standards, including but not limited to: pmOne Framework, Methodologies, Processes, Templates and Governance.
  • Ensures all Knowledge Areas within pmOne are being practiced for every project, including but not limited to: Cost Management, Schedule Management, Risk Management, Stakeholder Management, Quality Management, Resource Management, Communication Management and Scope Management
  • Audits all global projects at periodic intervals to ensure PMO process quality standards (e.g., Project Health Report, RAG Status, Escalation Management or similar) are being met
  • Acts as point-of-contact for all matters relating to PMO on all assigned global projects ensuring all Knowledge Areas within pmOne are being practiced
  • Identifies and addresses opportunities for improvement
  • Provides support, advice and guidance to Project Managers or Project Team members if required
