The Graduate Math Program (GMP) is a highly competitive program for exceptional mathematics and statistics graduate students. It is a 12-week paid work assignment that runs from the end of May through the middle of August. This program provides students with the opportunity to work directly with NSA Mathematicians and Statisticians on mission-critical problems and experience the excitement of the NSA Mathematics Community first-hand.

Qualifications

- Must be a U.S. citizen - Must be eligible to be granted a security clearance - Must be available for an operational interview and other applicable processing between the months of October 2020 and March 2021 - Applicants should have demonstrated superior mathematical or statistical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Evidence of successful work on an independent project in pure or applied mathematics, statistics, or computer science is desirable. Applicants may be at any stage in their graduate careers. Computer programming experience is desirable.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

- Students are paid a salary commensurate with their education level. - Receive annual and sick leave, and paid federal holidays - Participation in agency-wide extracurricular programs - Students who attend schools in excess of 75 miles from Ft. Meade, MD, are eligible for a round trip airfare ticket to and from school or mileage reimbursement up to the cost of a government-issued airline ticket. - Daily transportation to and from work is not provided. Students participating in the program are highly encouraged to bring a vehicle. Carpooling with other students MAY be available but is NOT guaranteed. - Subsidized housing accommodations are available upon request if school is located in excess of 75 miles from NSA main HQs campus.

At least two (2) letters of recommendation from faculty members or supervisors who can speak directly to your mathematics or statistics background 2. Transcripts from ALL colleges and universities attended through the current academic year, to include transferred credits 3. Current resume. ' Current and past degree seeking programs to include: ' Major ' Cumulative GPA ' Anticipated graduation date ' Degree concentration ' Lists of relevant courses taken, including the current semester's course list ' Computer programming experience (for each computer language, indicate skill level 'beginner, advanced, etc.) ' Awards, honors, and recognition ' Published papers and formal presentations ' Relevant research experiences or research projects ' Relevant work experiences Transcripts: Transcripts can be unofficial or official and can be sent via email, mail, or fax. ' Email: Have your College or University send transcripts directly to MathSummer@nsa.gov. ' Scan and Email: You may email a scanned PDF copy as an attachment in your application materials.
