Salesforce Marketing Cloud Technical Architect

 

The Marketing Cloud Technical Architect is a subject matter expert around Salesforce Marketing Cloud systems, data, coding, API, and integrations. He/she provides leadership to achieve specific technical objectives for implementations and managed services projects. The technical architect is responsible for leading technical requirements gathering and architecture sessions with clients and project teams. The technical architect collaborates with a solution architect on functional and technical design specifications while providing subject matter expertise to the project team and developers throughout the engagement.  This is a hands-on role that requires significant technical experience and abilities with Salesforce Marketing Cloud and related cloud technologies.

 

Responsibilities

 

  Own implementation tasks from initial planning and requirements analysis, through design, development, testing and deployment.

  Conduct technical process reviews, design sessions, and other architecture meetings

  Document current state technical processes and run gap analysis between current state and desired future state

  Design, develop, and document solutions to meet technical requirements, including the subscriber model and data flow between SFMC as well as other systems

  Support the development team in executing technical design and customizing the platform, including: AMPScript, SSJS, tSQL, data extensions, advanced triggers, and automations

  Work with clients to shape technical architecture and define and scope projects to address specific needs

  Judge the tradeoffs with technology and feasibility and make choices that fit the constraints of the project

  Provide subject matter expertise to internal teams during sales and delivery processes

 

 

Requirements

 

   10+ years of experience in a hands-on technical leadership position

   At least 3 years of hands-on experience building technical solutions for and integrations with SFMC

   Advanced understanding of marketing automation technology including SFMC ecosystem, data models, common integrations and third-party technology solutions

   Demonstrated ability to architect, build and execute data feeds, platform configuration, and components needed to run complex multi-channel marketing automations and related reporting & analytics

   Extensive experience with all primary elements of Marketing Cloud: Email Studio, Content Builder, Journey Builder, Analytics Builder, Personalization Builder, and Audience Builder

   Deep understanding of data, data extensions, data relationships, and ability to translate customer requirements to the use of their data throughout their marketing automation ecosystem

   Full understanding of out-of-the-box SFMC functionality and able to propose and estimate more advanced solutions based on client requirements.

   Knowledge of API integration with CRM platforms and Web properties

   Experience with front-end development, Pipelines, JS Controllers, Demandware Script, ISML templates, script debugging, troubleshooting, and performance management

   Development experience using HTML/CSS, MJML, Ampscript, Java, JavaScript, jQuery, SQL

   Hands on experience with email and landing page development, including templates, modular and responsive design

 

Preferred

 

   At least 5 years of consulting and/or client-facing roles

   Understanding of agile and waterfall development practices

   Ability to lead and facilitate workshops, technical requirements gathering, and design sessions

   Ability to work independently and as part of a team

   Team leadership experience managing resources responsible for marketing automation projects

   Excellent oral and written communication skills including technical documentation and the ability to conceptualize and communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences

   Willingness to travel up to 50%

   Certified in Salesforce Marketing Cloud and/or Marketing Cloud Consultant
