  • As a DevOps Consultant your tasks may vary day-to-day but primarily will focus on best-of-class consulting and working with Mission’s customers to architect and deploy dynamically scalable, highly available, fault-tolerant, and reliable applications on AWS. You will work closely with our Project Management and DevOps Engineering teams to deliver Mission’s Managed DevOps service to the accounts to which you’re assigned.

    General duties include:
    • Selecting appropriate AWS services to design and deploy an application based on given customer requirements
    • Designing enterprise-wide scalable operations on AWS
    • Understanding core AWS security and auditing capabilities
    • Applying DevOps Concepts including IAC using Terraform, configuration management using Chef, and Ansible, CI/CD using Jenkins, CodeDeploy, etc.
    • Making informed decisions about customer’s infrastructure and understand the impact of design decisions
    Specific Duties and Responsibilities
    • Act as the customer’s AWS Solutions Architect and “trusted advisor” through driving forward recommendations specific to optimization and alignment with best practices
    • Translate customer business objectives into a technology roadmap
    • Perform assessments of customer workloads as compared to AWS best practices and make recommendations for remediation
    • Act as a liaison between Mission’s Managed DevOps customers and Mission’s DevOps Engineers and Managed Cloud Team
    • Work with Project Management team to plan sprints for all assigned customers including resource allocation and estimation of tasks
    • Serve as a mentor for DevOps Engineering staff
    • Support pre-sales efforts by contributing to the creation of Services Order Forms/Statements Of Work
    Required Skills & Experience
    • Proven experience in a customer-facing consulting role
    • Experience presenting to C-level as well as technical and non-technical audiences
    • Experience with development of presentations and documents including but not limited to Assessments/Findings and Technical Design Documents.
    • Understanding of AWS security controls, network boundary controls, and related toolsets
    • AWS Professional-level (Architect and/or DevOps) Certification or equivalent AWS experience
    • Extensive comprehension of the overall IT infrastructure and application stack
    • Knowledge of AWS’s Well-Architected Framework
    • Hands-on experience with Configuration Management and Configuration Orchestration tools, such as Ansible, Terraform, Chef, etc.
    • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adhere to project timelines
    • Ability to translate requirements into design documents and project plans
    • Hands-on experience with containerization, preferably on AWS
    • Knowledge of ITIL practices (Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management)
    • Solid understanding of DevOps Concepts like IaC, CI/CD, etc
    • Excellent oral/written communication and organization skills
    • Passion for technology and continuous education
    Preferred Skills
    • Additional AWS certifications (Specialty/Professional)
    • Experience with Apache, nginx, Tomcat, IIS, and varnish
    • Experience managing various database engines, like MySQL, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL
    • Experience building and administering LAMP, RoR, Java, and/or ASP.NET web application environments
    • Experience with third-party cost optimization tools (CloudHealth, CloudCheckr, etc)
    • Knowledge of HIPAA/HITRUST or other regulatory compliance standards
    • Experience developing Installation Qualification (IQ) documents
