The Microsoft Capacity Supply Chain and Provisioning group is an exciting and fast evolving engineering group within Microsoft. CSCP’s mission is to optimize and deliver industry leading cloud infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s online services used by our Customers around the world. The organization is responsible for strategy and delivery of the foundational platform for all Microsoft Online Services including demand and capacity forecasting, supply chain, data centers, networking, bandwidth, operations, and incident management. CSCP supports over 200 online businesses including Bing, O365, OneDrive, Xbox and Windows Azure branded services.  Our focus is on smart growth, high efficiency, and delivering a trusted experience to customers and partners worldwide and we are looking for passionate, high energy individuals to help achieve that mission.

We are looking for a Supply Chain Planner to join the new Integrated Supply Planning (ISP) team within the Cloud Sourcing and Supply Chain (CSSC) Organization. This position will be responsible for supply chain transition planning at a platform and part level. This includes orchestrating last time buys, left to sell countdown reporting, coordination of stakeholders to align transition activities, and managing a checklist of supply chain related activities to drive continuity of supply during the transition.  This position will be responsible to develop the standardized report views, align key stakeholders and generate weekly synthesized updates to ensure clear communication of status and actions.

  • Work with NPI, Product Engineering, Sourcing and Planning to develop and maintain product and commodity transition outlook, 12-24 mo horizon
  • Manage set of supply chain activities triggered upon notice of product or part transition
  • Orchestrate key supply chain stake holders and program manage transitions to mitigate excess inventory and ensure availability and sku readiness for new products/parts
  • Analyze timing, inventory positions, demand changes to assess transition risk and coordinate demand shaping activities and excess supply mitigation
  • Develop clear dashboards to keep internal stakeholders aligned to transition health and drive accountability to action closure
  • Publish weekly status updates for key transition end of life and new platform introductions to align supply chain stakeholders across the demand and supply pillars
  • Identify, coordinate, document and implement process improvements

Basic Qualificaations

  • 5+ years’ experience in supply chain, planning, inventory management, procurement, materials management or manufacturing operations
  • 10+ years’ experience in high-tech supply chain
  • Master’s degree in Ops/Industrial /Manufacturing Engineering or Business
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or equivalent experience in related field

  • Understanding of infrastructure within an enterprise IT, Cloud or Data Center
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to be successful in highly ambiguous situations, and deal effectively with conflicting priorities and changes
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge in root cause analysis/problem solving and the ability to implement and drive corrective actions and efficiencies in a matrix environment
  • Product transition planning and supply/demand management
  • Customer driven and strong attention to detail
  • Experience driving initiatives across multiple cross-functional teams

  • Prior experience in supply chain, managing product/platform transitions
  • Experience in project or program management with proven track record of successfully setting up and executing operational processes
  • Experience in working with global and cross-functional internal and external teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong critical thinking and ability to drive resolution in ambiguous situations
  • Supplier management experience in a high-volume supply chain and or applicable Manufacturing / Hardware production environment
  • Lean-6 sigma black/green belt, PMP, Kaizen, CPIM/CSCP certification, or relevant project and process experience preferred
  • Strong ability to synthesize multiple inputs and drive clarity across multiple organizations
