We are in the process of bootstrapping a new team at Microsoft IDC, Hyderabad, as part of the Developer Division organization within the Cloud & AI business group. Developer Division’s mission is to Empower every developer and their teams to achieve more. We aim to grow a large and vibrant developer community using our tools, services, and platforms so that developers can unlock the true potential of their organizations. As part of this we build Visual Studio, VS Code, .NET platform and a host of languages and runtimes. A related and strategic mission is to Make Azure the best cloud for developers. Towards this, we ship highly successful developer facing services in Azure, such as the Azure Redis Cache, Azure Container Registry, and the Azure Spring Cloud Service. The new team at Microsoft IDC is contributing marquee feature sets for fast-growing products like VS Code and incubating exciting new service products targeting Azure developers. We are also building a partner ecosystem for 3rd party ISVs to integrate and offer their popular SaaS services to all Azure developers. 


We are looking to hire a customer-obsessed product leader who can lead the product vision and charter for the team at IDC, and manage a diverse, fast growing group of talented Program Managers. This role requires strong product thinking and leadership, track record of successfully shipping cloud service or developer-focused products to market, and technical depth in cloud native and open source technologies. We offer a fast-paced, exciting work environment where there are always new challenges and opportunities to showcase your leadership and technical skills. A Group Program Manager in the Developer Division: 

  • Has a passion for people management with a demonstrated track record of recruiting and retaining high performers. Leads by example through the model, coach, and care philosophy. 
  • Builds upon a strong team ethos and embodies company and division values, cultivating a culture based in diversity, inclusion, growth mindset, and customer obsession. 
  • Is qualitatively and quantitatively data-driven and agile in seeking and using data for decision-making. 
  • Engages and influences with customers and partners at strategic, global companies. 
  • Has business acumen and a knack for identifying technology disrupters or business gaps. 
    • Is able to create strategy and drive recommendations partnering with internal executive level stakeholders. 
  • Has an enduring passion for software, the ability to ramp up on new technologies quickly, and identify value proposition for developer customers. 
  • Collaborates across organizational boundaries, building experiences our customers will love. 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • 10+ years of Product/Program Management experience shipping enterprise or developer-focused product to external customers. 
  • Demonstrated ability to directly manage a team of PMs to achieve results, create a high-performing healthy team, and grow careers. 
  • Proven track record of shipping large scale enterprise software products or highly available and reliable cloud services. 
  • Must have shipped V1 products with great customer/user reviews. 
  • Strong background in at least one public cloud ecosystem (Azure, AWS or GCP) - part of your role will be building experiences that can connect to and integrate with a variety of Azure services and products. 
  • Strong program management, project management and cross-group collaboration skills. 
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related fields. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Ability to innovate at a platform level and drive integrated, end-to-end solutions through the shipping process. 
  • Great cross divisional relationship building skills and ability to collaborate with partners to determine the best way to deliver across the Azure ecosystem. 
  • Ability to pull together technology and expertise from partners to drive clarity across teams, agree on dependencies and common goals, and establish long lasting, trusted relationship with partner teams. 
  • Great problem-solving skills and outstanding drive for results; ability to drive clarity, communicate goals to key stakeholders, and motivate them to execute on time and at a high quality. 
  • Self-starter, who proactively identifies problems, takes risks, proposes solutions, and drives a team to address them.

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
