The Zendesk Billing Team is looking for an experienced Engineering Team Lead to guide and support them in their mission to provide a frictionless and elegant, self-service, full-stack purchase and subscription management experience across the Zendesk family of products.

Actively coach your team of 4-6 engineers in their professional development.
Work closely with Product Managers across the company (as well as sales, marketing, financial operation, tax, and compliance) to define subscription management, purchasing, and trial conversion features.
Recruit, onboard and retain talented software engineers and college interns.
Ensure your team has the capacity and the tools to quickly react when occassional urgent customer issues arise.
Keep your team up to date on important engineering and business decisions.
Keep track and adapt to rapidly changing requirements in a fast-paced team.
Create the processes that are right for your team, champion their adoption, and change them when necessary.
What you bring to the role:
A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in software development preferably in a SaaS environment.
At least 1 year of experience in a role where you had direct managerial responsibility for software engineers.
Experience working in an agile, fast-paced development environment making use of continuous unit/integration/load/performance testing.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have:
Experience with Ruby on Rails (or similar).
Experience with billing platforms and services (Zuora, Braintree, PayPal, Recurly, Stripe, Square), multi-currency, internationalization, payment processing, subscription modeling, fraud detection.
Experience with relational databases and SQL (preferably MySQL)
Experience working on open source projects with an active GitHub repo.
Analytical skills for creating and interpreting metrics.
Experience with Continuous Integration systems or Continuous Deployment / Delivery (Travis, Jenkins).
DevOps experience - when problems occur we work with the operations team to help figure out what’s going on and how to fix it. Being comfortable getting onto production servers and delving into the logs becomes important.
A Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
