Business Development Manager (Buyer)

NTURN is a B2B marketplace that is changing how the retail sector manages inventory, allowing brands and retailers to buy and sell in seconds. We’re addressing the ignored off-price market by bringing innovation for the first time since Microsoft released Excel. We are a start-up in NYC that is changing the retail industry… and having fun while doing it!

The Buyer Network (“BNT”) Business Development Manager will be responsible for facilitating transactions on the INTURN platform by liaising with the off-price buyers and retail brands that engage in our business-to-business network. All BNT Transactions team members are advocates for the Buyer Network. We work to represent Buyer needs by helping them navigate the Brand network and utilize the INTURN platform to its fullest capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop deep understanding of the off-price retail industry and empathy for how buyers and their organizations (aka retailers) operate within the industry
  • Manage and build relationships with off-price buyers globally
  • Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally with the Client Success, Buyer Network Growth and Sales teams to understand the needs of the brands on our platform and provide them with best-in-class service accordingly
  • Strategically guide brands on which buyers and off-price retailers are the best fit for their excess inventory and business priorities
  • Review inventory listings and provide guidance to brands on how to best position their inventory in order to increase sell-through
  • Report on the performance of active listings, counter-offers and completed transactions, while also actively tracking platform

Education

  • College degree required
  • 2-3 years experience in an off-price buying organization and/or in sales at a retail brand that sells their excess inventory to off-price retailers

Key Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail and demonstrated capability in the execution of team projects and campaigns
  • Equal parts thinker and doer; demonstrated ability to white-board strategies and problem-solve, with the ability to pick up the phone and get things done
  • Professional and poised with clients and colleagues alike
  • Advanced skill in understanding how to review and evaluate Available to Sell inventory files
  • Effective in analyzing performance of merchandise and customer activity, with the ability to visualize it in Excel or some other data visualization tool to drive insights
  • Able to manage accounts and customer/vendor/client information in an organized and consistent manner
  • Proficient in other presentation software (PowerPoint, Keynote, Prezi, etc)
