The Director, Web is responsible for ensuring mongodb.com offers the best possible brand and content experience for our audience, as well as optimizing mongodb.com as a revenue source for the company. This role calls for a strong blend of strategic thinking and execution in a fast-paced environment – all while remaining laser-focused on results.

Main Responsibilities
  • The website is your main responsibility. We expect that you will plan, implement, manage, monitor and update the organization's website
  • Identify strategic areas of improvement across all web properties with page download speed for site performance, code optimization, unit testing, and QA automation
  • Hire, train and evolve a team of developers, product managers, and UX designers to execute on those plans
  • Work closely with other teams to unlock growth opportunities
  • Work closely with the team to define roadmaps based on product & technical requirements, that are aligned with our marketing strategy, company vision and goals
  • Build team cohesiveness by leading conversations across a variety of internal & external partners. including stations, vendors, and internal groups
  • Lead vendor evaluation, onboarding, relationships, and ongoing communications
  • Create presentations, pitch ideas, and provide regular status updates to management teams
  • Define and improve upon our web KPIs
  • Continuous user experience improvements to the website
  • Work with the team to define and own website roadmaps, driven by business strategy and prioritized to ensure alignment with marketing and development teams
  • Coordinate multiple projects with different levels of complexity (see tweaks to bullet #5)
  • Analyze analytics data to learn how users interact with the website, and work with the team to ideate on IA, UX, and site performance to improve upon key data points
  • Collaborate with all staff and management to ensure that the website aligns with brand strategy and meets the organization’s standards
  • Respond to and solve website issues
  • Ensure the website meets all global compliance requirements, including data privacy, user accessibility, and other relevant laws and regulations
  • Keep up-to-date with industry developments and standard methodologies, and continuously monitor the competitive space
Technical Skills
  • Be proficient in developing functionality for web applications written with React, Express, or other modern frameworks and tools
  • Have a deep understanding of MongoDB or other modern databases
  • Know the most current web APIs - such as ES Modules, Async / Await, Fetch, IndexedDB, Web Workers- in and out
  • Have familiarity with a CI deployment style
  • Have the ability to develop and own the long-term strategy for large web applications
  • Be knowledgeable of standard methodologies and able to produce high-quality web application UX and UI
  • Have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a daily release cycle
  • Be introspective about their own workflows and interested in improving the efficiency of their team
  • Be familiar and comfortable with coding integrations commonly made in a marketing setting
  • Be able to know, execute, and advise on SEO standard methodologies
  • Be curious, collaborative, open-minded, and willing to debate ideas with empirically-backed claims
Requirements
  • 7+ years of web development experience highly preferred
  • 4+ years of management experience highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent experience
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills; understanding of UX design processes and rapid experimentation
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Proven success collaborating with cross-team partners
  • Great understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Paid Per Click (PPC)
  • Ability to solve website issues in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail with an analytical mind and outstanding problem-solving skills
