Senior Financial Analyst – Channel Programs and Compliance


VMware has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Financial Analyst to join its GTM Sales Finance Team in a challenging, fast-paced environment. The role will work closely with Partner Programs, focusing on Marketing Development Funds management and other Channel programs. This position will also work cross functionally with Channel Sales, Field Marketing, Accounting and Business Operations at VMware to provide financial planning, performance analytics and reporting. The right individual for this role is a proven strategic financial professional with a passion towards operational excellence, great attention to detail, and will continuously drive process improvement. This role will report to the Senior Director of Channel Finance based in Palo Alto, CA.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Marketing Development Funds Planning and Forecasting.  Develop funding model based on business levers and drivers.  This requires understanding of the business dynamics of Partner Incentives and Marketing activities.
  • Budget Management. Ensure funds usage is in compliance with Development Fund guidelines, Procurement and Accounting Standards.
  • Business Performance Measurement.  Develop key performance indicators that will provide ongoing assessment of the business and provide input for management decision making.
  • Investments and Program Proposals analysis.  Assess financial impact, develop financially viable proposals and ROI measurements for strategic partnerships and programs.
  • Management communication.  Support and create presentation and reporting materials for quarterly business reviews, planning reviews and upper management meetings
  • Drive process improvements and reporting standardization. Work cross functionally to continuously improve business, planning, forecasting and month end close process. Work with Business and Data Intelligence team to define key KPI’s and design views to help plan, forecast and measure business results in the most effective way.


  • 4+ years of relevant experience in FP&A or Revenue Accounting
  • Strong planning and organization skills, including ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-starter with unquestionable integrity, who can take charge of complex tasks with high-level direction and develop new strategies and new ways of approaching business challenges independently
  • Self-starter with excellent time and project management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with a diverse team and influence / drive change across functional and business boundaries
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • B.A. or B.S. in Finance or Accounting; MBA is preferred
