Technical Project Manager

VMware is seeking Technical Project Managers to join the Central Services Team! The ideal Technical Project Manager will come from a technical background (e.g. software developer, network engineer, etc.) and have professional experience in project management, program management, release management and/or engineering management working on software engineering projects.

  • Own and drive projects from start to completion in distributed, matrix environment applying most appropriate project management methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall, Lean, etc).
  • Develop and execute detailed project plans, schedules, dependencies, critical paths, and other required project collateral.
  • Lead project team members to ensure collaboration across teams, projects and programs.
  • Provide clear communication to team members and stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the improvement and modernization of PSBU program and project management practices, tools and processes.


NOTE: VMware is hiring for 2 roles – Technical Project Manager (4+ years’ experience) and Senior Technical Project Manager (8+ years’ experience)

  • MUST HAVE hands-on experience in project management, program management, release management and/or engineering management working on software engineering projects.
  • MUST HAVE advanced JIRA and Confluence skills and knowledge. 
  • Creativity in discovering actionable results and ability to succeed in a collaborative, fast-paced, global environment.
  • Ability to be an influential member of a highly-integrated team composed of both technical and non-technical members.
  • Education: BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related fields or equivalent practical experience.

Highly-Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of industry experience as a software engineer or network engineer.
  • PMP, Certified Scrum Master, or equivalent professional certification
  • Familiarity with technical subjects in Cloud technologies and platforms, Data Center Virtualization, Network Security, IoT, PKS and emerging technologies.
  • Experience working in Professional Services organizations
  • Location: Ideal candidate will be located within the U.S. Eastern or Central time zones
