This position is responsible for the design, implementation, communication and measurement of the global benefit programs including medical, welfare, retirement, leaves, fringe benefits and well-being initiatives within the framework of CSL's Total Rewards and Benefit strategy. The position will develop and support a well-being strategy for the CSL group, and integrate the local and site initiatives into the broader global program.


Works with the VP, Total Rewards and other members of the Total Rewards leadership team to ensure the Global Benefits strategy is aligned with the business strategy and the HR strategy. Develops and recommends a benefits strategy that supports the business and culture and responds to marketplace demands.

Ensures regulatory compliance with all legal requirements of employee benefit programs across all CSL locations, keeps abreast of changes in legislation and regulations that impact the benefits practice.

Periodically, conducts analysis of existing benefits to ensure programs are competitive with market practices, are cost effective, of suitable quality, are applied equitably and are flexible, for selected benefit areas which are of interest to business leaders.

Evaluates and compares existing Company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys and other sources of information. Plans, develops and/or participates in surveys and analyzes results to develop specific recommendations for review by management.

Analyzes global benefit plan coverage and claims in order to shape recommendations relative to emerging social and industry trends. Develops and implements new programs or modifications to existing programs to meet the changes in demographics, utilization, organizational changes and changes to the business. Provides detailed financial analysis (including plan coverage and claims experience), review and reporting on all benefit plans. Develops Company cost information for new plans and makes recommendations to management on plan design and costs, including sharing of costs between employer and employee, if appropriate.

Understands employee and business needs, builds and maintains relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and recommends the direction of the Company's Global Benefit strategy. Develops specifications for new plans or modifies existing plans to maintain Company's competitive position in relation to benefits, and within the Total Reward philosophy.

Expands and refines high quality, fit for purpose benefits administration services as part of CSL's Total Reward strategy. Conducts regular market reviews and identifies, assesses, selects and manages 3rd party vendors and consultants (including running tenders where appropriate) to ensure regulatory compliance is maintained and Company benefit strategy objectives are met.

Ensures adherence to all Company policies and procedures. Where required, manages vendor processes for global benefits projects and plans.

Overall accountability for Global Benefits Financial Management. Ensures that projects are managed in a fiscally responsible way and within budget.

Works closely with Global Insurance Broker. Has overall accountability for the Retirement Investment Committee in the US. Ensures global pension committees and governance is in place outside of the US and acts as an advisor or Country Committee participant, as required.

Provides strategic direction, leadership and expertise in developing and implementing CSL's well-being program. This includes evaluating and optimizing opportunities to improve health and productivity performance. Collaborates with divisions and manages a team of professionals who are accountable for designing and implementing programs and projects to achieve the organization's well-being goals in an effective and efficient fashion.

Oversee special projects that require integration between employee benefits plans and other HR priorities as well as merger and acquisition activity.

Provide consulting support to individual businesses and HR business partners in managing benefit issues. Participate in global projects and work in conjunction with the compensation team to review Total Compensation offering. Partners with Communications to identify tools and communication vehicles that increase employee understanding of benefit programs and the value they deliver. Reviews benefit-related employee communications to ensure messages are clear and concise.

Has responsibility for oversight and effective management of all team members (i.e. direct reports) to include but not limited to the following:

-Annual objective setting

-Mid-year and end of year reviews

-Coaching and counseling as appropriate

-Employee development

-Recruitment, selection and development of talent

-Managing, directing & measuring work on an ongoing basis. Provides timely constructive feedback to ensure quality of work meets or exceeds company standards

-Assuring work is completed in a customer focused manner



-Bachelor's degree (related field preferred

-CEBS or CBP a plus


Minimum 10 years' experience creating strategy for and managing US benefits for a diverse population of exempt, non-exempt and union employees located across the United States.

-Minimum 8 years' experience designing and managing global benefits to include but not limited to health, insurance, retirement, leave programs, allowances and well-being. Experience in the development of change management strategies to support business needs.

-Minimum of 5 years' experience leading and managing people.
