The Communications Manager, Social will report to Messenger’s Head of Consumer Communications and will be responsible for driving all owned social media communications, including the paid and earned influencer work on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.Success in this role means taking the lead to develop content strategy that will connect Messenger's consumer audience to our products by helping people see the benefits, inspiring them to try, and exciting them to share with their friends and family. Successful candidate will drive both strategy and execution, is analytical and creative, and cares deeply about Messenger's mission to be a universal way to connect and be closer together.

You should have an interest in storytelling, be highly collaborative, work effectively and efficiently with other cross-functional teams, particularly communications, marketing, and partnerships. The successful candidate will also be proactive and constantly looking for ways to better connect with Messenger’s audience.

  • Oversee Messenger’s content strategy on FB, IG, and Twitter as well as other owned social channels via third party influencers
  • Work closely with Messenger design team and social creative agency to produce high quality content
  • Establish goals and clearly defined metrics of success to measure quality of content, audience growth, engagement and content reach
  • Pivot team quickly to experiment with new types of programming
  • Identify new platforms and channels where Messenger should be present
  • Finalize and implement Messenger’s influencer strategy
  • Coordinate with marketing team to boost relevant pieces of editorial social content


  • 10+ years of editorial experience working in digital media
  • Experience in video content development and project management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations or related field
  • Experience working cross-functionally with communications, marketing, creative, and policy teams
  • Experience working with brands and influencers


  • Experience working at a technology company
  • Experience working with or in support of diverse communities
