The Site Reliability Engineer will maintain the VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud production service and intervene to correct problems should they arise. The engineer shall be well versed in WAN, SaaS, and data center infrastructure technologies to ensure the production service operates at peak performance. As a member of the SRE team, the individual will leverage monitoring tools to understand the overall health of the global infrastructure in order to prevent service degradation and disruptions.   SRE team member shall respond to escalation inquiries from the support team and help facilitate communication to the internal R&D organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and maintain the VMware SD-WANsolutionby VeloCloud global service platform to maintain SLA and ensure service availability.

  • Monitor key performance indicators of the global infrastructure

  • Fault handling and escalation: Identify and respond to faults on systems and networks, liaising with 3rd party suppliers, handling escalation through toresolution

  • Respond to service incidents and publish root cause analysis (RCA)reports

  • Service maintenance: Deploy and upgrade service components andpatches

  • Assist with customer provisioning where infrastructure items need to be provided

  • Collaborate withTechnicalOperations Engineers to operate and automate the globalinfrastructure

  • Provide support to escalations from customer support and other technical teams

  • Participate in on call schedules to ensure around the clock monitoring and L2 escalation coverage.

Qualifications

  • BS Computer Science preferred.

  • Experience in a high‐volume or critical 24x7x365 production service environment. 

  • Highly proficient in Linux Operating Systems 

  • Solid understanding/experience of web services, databases and related infrastructure/architectures

  • Experience with orchestration tools such as Ansibleor Terraform.

  • Hands-on experience with Cloud providers like AWS, Azure, etc.

  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins,Githubetc. 

  • Understanding of L2 and L3 Network OSI layers 

  • Musthave experience with any of the programming languages like Python, Bash,etc

  • Experience with modern container services like Docker and orchestration system like Kubernetes

  • Experience with monitoring applications like Grafana, Nagios, and Kibana

  • Experience with VMWare stack likeesxi,vcenter,nsx,etc
