Technical Marketing Manager (For North American Candidates)

Full Time Mid-Level
Main Location
San Mateo, CA, United States

Overview

Backblaze helps customers easily manage and serve the irreplaceable -- from COVID research data to Austin City Limits’ performances by Willie Nelson and the Foo Fighters. The ‘easily’ really matters because there are many extremely robust cloud storage providers out there, yet we’ve chosen to focus on ease-of-use for many businesses rather serving every edge case with added complexities for all businesses.

This is where you shine: we seek a strong Technical Marketing Manager who can help us bring our ease-of-use story to sophisticated technical buyers and developers who want to get deep into how Backblaze solutions can effectively serve their needs within their existing or ideal workflows. As a critical member of our product marketing team, you’ll directly enable our go-to-market strategy by leading development of mission-critical thinking and content that educates and excites IT, dev, and sysadmin prospects--with the framing, detail, and value they’ll need to know--and ultimately accelerates favorable lead/funnel outcomes.

Do you love to get into more technical concepts and details? And do you also love to then explain them in ways that motivate and help others? If so, and you’d also like to be part of a refreshingly open, ego-free, and diverse work environment, let’s talk.

This San Mateo-based position (when we can all safely return to the office) reports to our head of product marketing.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and develop technical assets including solution overviews, whitepapers, and integrated workflow guides for people who create and/or scale SaaS apps and infrastructure
  • Generate or guide others’ creation of one-to-many content pieces including blog articles, webinars, and explainer videos for IT and sysadmin leaders and other tech-savvy targets too
  • Engage in and/or cultivate conversations in select online dev user communities
  • Lead thought leadership activities / execution at key industry events and trade shows (with an event planning colleague and others supporting the success you envision)
  • Stay current on focused market developments and trends in order to create work that is both relevant and informative
  • Work closely with fun colleagues across marketing, sales, product management, and engineering
  • Make a difference, each and every day
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in B2B technical marketing, product marketing, developer marketing, or product management
  • Strong track record of relevant accomplishments / successes that demonstrate your prowess
  • Proven ability to make sense of complicated systems and structures, and to clearly communicate them in ways that are not complicated but also not oversimplified
  • Talent for managing projects and on-time deliveries
  • Strong attention to detail, passion to serve customers, and desire to have a positive impact
  • Preferably some understanding of cloud storage or data storage challenges
  • Bachelor’s degree required; technical degree preferred
Some Backblaze Perks
  • 100% healthcare for family
  • Competitive compensation incl. 401k and option grants for all employees
  • Unlimited vacation days
