JOB FAMILY SUMMARY:

Focuses on development processes and mentoring the Scrum teams while removing impediments, planning releases and sprints, shielding the team from external sources, facilitating meetings and ensuring clear communication.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director, Product Management is responsible for overseeing all aspects of MINDBODY product development within a designated functional area, including direct management of both managers and individual contributors. The Director, Product Management works cross-functionally with the UX Design, Research, Project Management, Engineering, Marketing, and go-to-market teams to empower their teams, develop and execute against their product vision, and ultimately define and achieve strategic business objectives.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technology or technical related field
  • MBA or another graduate-level degree (preferred)
  • 20+ years of product management experience with increasing responsibility in a top-tier SaaS company
  • 10+ years of people management experience
  • Possesses a unique blend of business and technical savvy: a big-picture vision, the drive to make that vision a reality, and technical credibility to engage with world-class software developers
  • Intimate knowledge of key product management, agile development and UX-centered design principles
  • Demonstrated experience effectively communicating with senior leaders and executives
  • Track record of ownership and delivery of large, complicated projects on time and within scope
  • Certifications such as Scrum Master or PMP
  • Experience handling enterprise-level clients/customers
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent leadership, communication and presentation skills both written and oral
  • Able to work well in a cross-functional, matrix management environment

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and own product roadmap. Lead product development from conceptualization through launch: create actionable plans, work streams and tactics; deliver on those in support of business KPIs
  • Manage and inspire associate, regular, senior and group product managers towards execution of product roadmap
  • Attract, develop and retain top PDM talent
  • Formulate complex business plans, analyze the current competitive landscape, focus on ROI and convince senior leadership of the viability of strategic endeavors
  • Manage work-streams across the value chain, from product ideation to market and user research
  • Cultivate a deep understanding of the customer and work tirelessly to identify new opportunities to improve their experience
  • Work with product marketing, design, engineering, project management, and go-to-market functions to establish and improve the process for successful product delivery
  • Leverage data/analytics to make tactical and strategic product decisions
  • Identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the organization’s ability to meet its strategic, financial, and technical goals
  • Plan, forecast and manage a product backlog
  • Manage the product roadmap for strategic area, setting expectations with all relevant stakeholders
  • Demonstrate favorable results through leadership and influencing multiple individuals and groups
  • Gather customer feedback to determine future iterations. Compare planned success metrics to actuals and ladder up product performance
  • All other duties as assigned

 

SCOPE OF SUPERVISION/AUTHORITY:

  • Duties are performed under limited supervision.
  • Decision making authority is broad within the scope of assignments.
  • This position requires self-direction and continuous evaluation of priorities to ensure completion by deadlines.
  • All decisions and consulting will reflect adherence with internal policies and state and federal law.
  • This position plays a key role in recruiting, supervising, evaluating, mentoring and if necessary, dismissing team members.
  • Although this role can operate successfully with little direct supervision, all operational changes particularly those relating to job function changes, raises, service level goals, and anything budget related must be agreed upon by the department Executive.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • You will need dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard
  • This position is mostly stationary and will be required to remain stationary for extended periods of time
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet
