The Strategic Finance team is accountable for identifying, analyzing and reporting on metrics that truthfully reflect business performance; driving a rigorous budgeting and forecasting process; and advising senior management on the financial implications of strategic and operational activities.

As a member of this team, you would be responsible for Flatiron’s operating and financial planning, budgeting and variance analysis; providing key data insights and metrics to business partners; and identifying trends and areas for business improvement.


  • Develop and improve financial analyses and forecasts in both Excel and financial planning tools to guide strategic and resource allocation decisions for the company
  • Generate and communicate insights about business performance (overall and versus plan) via monthly variance analysis package
  • Partner with and build strong relationships with business partners across the organization
  • Translate analytics to actionable insights. Work closely with team leaders to develop and translate financial forecasts and operational metrics into actionable guidance that assists with decision making
  • Proactively identify areas for business improvement and produce persuasive, data-driven arguments to support good decisions
  • Support the development, reporting and benchmarking of key corporate operational metrics
  • Independently manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment with a high level of precision

About You

  • 4+ years in investment banking, private equity, management consulting or strategic finance
  • Undergraduate BS/BA
  • Solid understanding of accounting standards and modeling financial statements
  • Excellent Excel skills – many call themselves an Excel master, but very few actually are. You must bring master Excel skills and still want to learn more
  • Ability to quickly learn and become an expert in new software tools (e.g. Netsuite, Salesforce, Adaptive Insights, etc.)
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to turn Excel and numbers into actionable items
  • Detail-oriented – while you will not have to align text boxes often, you should know why it’s important and apply that attention to detail to everything
  • Hustle – you’ll be working on numerous different projects at once and identifying many more that can help the organization
  • Passionate about healthcare and the fight against cancer

Bonus Points

  • Understanding of SaaS metrics and ability to analyze these metrics to identify business opportunities
  • Experience in healthcare and / or technology
  • Experience with Netsuite, Salesforce and/or Adaptive Insights
