Who we are

Founded in 2013, Thistle is an early-stage food-tech startup empowering our customers to get and stay healthy while improving our food system’s sustainability. We deliver delicious, organic, healthy, plant-forward meals, cold-pressed juices, and snacks to customers on the West Coast at the elusive intersection of convenience, health, and sustainability.

We don’t want to be just another food delivery startup. Our focus is on our customers’ health and happiness, and we are revolutionizing how fresh, nutritious, high-quality food is purchased, manufactured, and delivered at scale. Thistle is headquartered in San Francisco, and we are backed by some amazing investors in the Bay Area and beyond.

Thistle is headquartered in San Francisco, but we are building out a remote engineering team. Candidates should be located within California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Tennessee, or Maine.

About the Role

We're looking for an exceptional Senior Technical Program Manager to deliver large projects end-to-end that span technology, marketing, culinary R&D, and operational teams. You will lead and coordinate implementation efforts between internal teams, third-party service providers, and customers. You will balance customer and business needs versus technical constraints, and make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market. The job requires a high degree of maturity and judgment, as well as the ability to negotiate, influence, and provide overall leadership.

Projects may include initiatives such as rolling out new technology to enable Thistle to provide new services to customers, expanding Thistle to new geographies, and improving supply chain and production processes and tools to provide Thistle customers with even more delightful and convenient service.

What you'll do

  • Collect business and systems requirements from internal and external customers and write specifications.
  • Develop and manage end-to-end project plans and ensure on-time delivery. Provide day-to-day coordination and quality assurance for projects and tasks.
  • Lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts, coordinating across multiple teams to develop optimal solutions. Establish and clearly communicate shared goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional teams. Manage the technical coordination and relationship with external partners.
  • Proactively identify, mitigate, and manage risks to ensure success. Make appropriate tradeoffs.
  • Be a technical problem solver on the team, identifying innovative solutions to project deadlocks and resolving issues and constraints through consensus and sound judgment.
  • Be customer-focused. Advocate on behalf of the customer for products and solutions that delight customers and solve their problems.
  • Drive internal process improvements across multiple teams and functions, remove roadblocks, and deliver on high-impact projects that align with the company mission and goals with a focus on efficiency, performance, and quality.

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years of consumer digital technical program management experience, preferably in a high-growth company.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience launching and iterating on successful consumer products over several product lifecycles.
  • Experience designing, rolling out, and driving adoption of new processes for technical program management.
  • Strong skills in cross-functional collaboration, influence, and communication(both verbal and written with audiences of varying technical abilities and business contexts); an ability to achieve clarity and drive focus in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • A strong data-driven mentality and prioritization framework to ensure focus on the highest impact work. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including the ability to self-serve to collect/query data and use data to back up assumptions and develop business cases.
  • An ability to dive deeply into both technical details and business needs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

We understand that everyone is going to have strengths and weaknesses with regards to different aspects of this role. We encourage you to apply even if you feel some of the expectations would be challenging to meet.
