To help with this transition, UTC’s Re-Empower Program is designed specifically to help you bring your knowledge, experience and creativity back to the workforce.

The UTC Re-Empower Program helps support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities, enhance leadership skills, and continue their professional journey. Over the course of the 16-week program, experienced professionals will gain paid, on-the-job experience, have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive coaching to guide their return to work experience. Upon completion of the program, based on performance, Re-Empower participants may have an opportunity to convert to a full-time role.

The first cohort of the UTC Re-Empower Program will run from January 22, 2018 – May 11, 2018.

Compression Systems Engineering seeks a motivated, detail-oriented mechanical design engineer to join the Fan/LPC design team as part of the UTCRe-EmpowerProgram. Working on inter-disciplinary teams, the selected candidates will perform mechanical design of compressor turbomachinery hardware including a vast and challenging array of parts such as integrally bladed rotors, cases and structural frames, blades, stators and kinematic systems. The skill to build and evaluate detailed models is required. The capability to interpret analysis results for accuracy and propose alternate configurations to resolve design issues are key elements of this position. The candidate will be responsible for design analysis, discipline and product reviews, production support, Class 1 and 2 engineering changes, FMEAs, RCCA, and job documentation. All design work will utilize Unigraphics solid modeling as well as in-house modeling and analysis tools. The designer will lead or participate on a cross functional integrated product team to collaborate on solutions

Key job functions:

• Develop technically sound design solutions within program schedule milestones that meet cost and weight goals.
• Understand technical processes and design requirements of compressor hardware.
• Learn and apply sophisticated solid modeling and analysis tools in a highly proficient manner.
• Utilize standard work, QCPC, and other ACE tools to continuously improve the design process.
• Communicate with team leadership


Qualification: To qualify for the UTC Re-Empower Program, candidates should:
Currently be on a voluntary break of at least two years or more
Have a minimum of five years of professional work experience
Have an interest in returning to work in a full-time position
Have an ability to attend the Re-Empower Program Orientation at UTC Headquarters in Farmington, CT on January 22 – January 24, 2018
U.S. Citizenship Required
Education: BS in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering required
