Boeing Commercial Airlines is looking for strong Structural Analysis Engineers in the Seal Beach, CA area.

The successful candidate will work directly with Landing Gear Service Engineers to resolve in-service airplane issues related to landing gear systems. Develops, integrates and documents structural repairs to meet design requirements. Coordinates with other engineering groups to establish the product's environment.  Verifies structural integrity by using analytical methods, finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools throughout the product lifecycle.  Analyzes test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications. Reviews test results to substantiate for customers and regulatory agencies that requirements are satisfied. Supports in-service products by investigating failures and analyzing improvements. Works under general direction.

You will be an integral part of supporting all Boeing Commercial Airplane models in-service and development, including programs such as 737NG, 737MAX, 747, 757, 767, 777, 787, MDC Heritage, 777X, and the next generation of commercial airplanes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical, stress analysis and informational support for product support or in-service issues.
  • Performs analysis of landing gear component repairs and investigation of problems to provide disposition and return to service requirements.
  • Supports analysis, definition and verification of basic requirements.  May modify basic requirements based on defined requirements using approved processes and tools.
  • Supports basic technical documentation (e.g. Fleet Team Digest articles, service letters, drawings, specifications, documents, data sets, Stress folders, test requirements documents, manuals) in accordance with engineering processes and procedures for internal reference or external delivery.
  • Supports review of technical design, analysis, and production by reviewing documentation.
  • Supports the research of technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
  • Assists in developing repair procedures and/or providing analysis of interim and final engineering solutions to return airplanes to revenue service.
  • Works with cross-functional teams to conduct root cause analysis and develop dispositions for complex design non-conformances.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or Higher in the course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • The position requires flexibility to address emergent issues and important airline meetings off-hours and may require an occasional off-shift work schedule to support the fleet operating 24 hours/7 days a week/365 days of the year.
  • 5 or more years of experience in structural analysis.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • E-UM designation is preferred.
  • Experience with Landing Gear.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of fatigue analysis and modeling, and/or mechanical systems analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple team functions.
  • Willingness to expand into technical areas without prior experience.
  • Desire to continuously improve our airplanes.

Typical Educations/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
