In the Azure Developer Experience group, we are innovating on how dev teams build applications for the cloud, in the cloud. We continuously strive to learn the needs of developers and dev teams, build solutions that drive productivity, and create products that are delightful to use. We're looking for a principal product manager to help us build platform services for developers leveraging the cloud for their apps and dev workflows. This product manager will define and direct product vision & strategy by leveraging a deep understanding of the customer experience and competitive market.


As a Principal Program Manager for this role, you will work closely with engineering team and partner teams, as the product owner of some platform service(s) for application development on Azure. These services cover a broad range of customers building cloud-native applications. You will also have opportunity creating the pipeline for the next set of platform services we should invest in by envisioning, analyzing and socializing new opportunities in this space.


Examples of activities this team is responsible for include:

  • Growth hacking usage of existing services by improving acquisition and conversion
  • Building new capabilities in existing services for new scenarios and new platform capabilities
  • Managing product positioning, competitive differentiation and pricing
  • Defining new services through customer development focused on developers leveraging the cloud for their apps and dev workflows

This role offers the perfect mix of technical plus business and product development, requiring strong analytical and communication skills, deep understanding of developers’ workflow, and the ability to drive strategic results through well-planned execution. The role involves continuous interaction with customers, partners (both internal and external), and senior leadership. A strong background in managing and directing high-performing teams and driving multiple products that delight customers, will be the keys to success in this exciting opportunity.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 6+ years in a product management role
  • 2+ years experience working with infrastructure and platform services
  • 4+ years managing a product management or engineering team

Preferred qualifications:

  • BS or higher degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Knowledge of the Azure platform, particularly core infrastructure services
  • Knowledge of container-based workflows including Docker and k8s
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain customer relationships and understand their business needs and priorities
  • Demonstrable experience designing and implementing large scale cloud solutionsand DevOps workflows
  • Experience shipping and operating cloud service is a big plus
