The M365 and Future of Work Team is looking for an communications lead for the Corporate Vice President of Modern Work marketing.

 

Responsibilities include creative storytelling for our Modern Work narrative and content development across speeches, blogs, written communications, and social media channels.

Telling our story to our customers, partners, and other external audiences requires creativity and world-class storytelling.This is a deeply collaborative role that calls for close partnerships and the ability to orchestrate work across the broader leadership team, key stakeholders in Communications and Marketing, PR/AR and Microsoft subsidiary teams aroundthe world. 

 

The successful candidate will be self-motivated and self-directed, and able to operate in a fast-paced environment and manage ambiguity whilestriving for high-qualityresults. This person must work well in a team to drive impact quickly and uphold the team's mandate to operate with the highest levels of integrity and trust. 

Responsibilities

Develop CVP communications content for key external audiences, including customers, business and IT decision makers, knowledge workers, frontline workers and investors. This includes editorial content and programming and partnering with event producers on end-to-end event production. 

  • Lead development of our Modern Work narrative broadly and help communicate how work is changing — and the impact this change has on people and organizations and translate that narrative across mediums in a compelling and impactful way. 
  • Write speeches, blogs, LinkedIn posts and articles, press quotes, social media content, video scripts, and other talking points and digital content.
  • Manage the speaking event calendar and develop and own theoperational rhythm of business, as well as workback scheduled for speaking engagements and events in partnership with the Business Manager for the CVP of Modern Work; ensure operational rigor in our process and sufficient lead time in our preparedness approach. 
  • Draft briefing documents in partnership with analyst, PR, and customer account teams.
  • Own all CVP-authored content for the Microsoft 365 blog.
  • Partner with Future of Work editorial lead on development of original content for WorkLab.
  • Demonstrate ability to ‘think and conceptualize in the digital medium’ to develop creative concepts for digital events and presentations.
  • Partner with a PowerPoint designer on development of visuals and PowerPoint slides for customer pitch decks and presentations.
  • Provide operational and logistical support for digital and onsite events.
  • Manage and evaluate incoming speaking requests to determine and manage appropriate format, content, and deliverables end-to-end with keystakeholders.
  • Proactively seek out CVP speaking and authorship opportunities aligned to thought leadership priorities
  • Research speech subject matter and find the most impactful stories and synthesize talking points and messaging from other teams.
  • Partner with the Corporate PR and AR team on press and analyst engagements 
  • Measure the outcomes of engagements to evaluate impact, learn and improve. 
Qualifications

  • 5+ years of related work experience in PR, speech writing or executive communications
  • A passion for technology and the ability to translate complex ideas into simple, clear prose.
  • Exceptional written communications skills.Proven communications, speech writing, and PR content development experience. Written samples of work will be required during the interview process. 
  • Successful track record of delivering clear, compelling written communications, and creating engaging content that breaks through with customers and achieves business results.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize the complex and take multiple, complicated, disparate inputs from a variety of sources and evidence, and transform it into simple, clear, succinct, elegant, and compelling communication.
  • Highly comfortable in a fast-paced team environment; high capacity for multi-tasking and able to manage multiple high-stakes deliverables and projects simultaneously, and resilient under pressure. 
  • Successful track record of building collaborative partnerships and setting a high-quality bar while driving hard for results. 
  • Strong collaborator with excellent stakeholder management skills who enjoys working across teams to achieve a common goal.
  • Executive maturity and ability to influence for impact.
  • Curiosity, self-awareness, and a desire to test and learn using data as a success metric.
