The Role: Manager Quality Engineering

The Location: IND-Acropolis (Ahmedabad)

The Team: The S&P Global Market Intelligence Quality Assurance (SPGMI QA) community consists of personnel in New York, New Jersey, Colorado, Virginia, Pakistan, and India. We provide quality assurance and software testing for S&P Global Market Intelligence products.

The Impact: Being in this role you will play driving test strategy/visibility for QA activities in the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Advocate for quality, be the voice of the internal/external customer
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of the architecture and flow of data for their project area
  • Conduct peer code reviews and deliberate automation strategies to promote automation opportunities beyond standard regression suite for e.g. sanity testing etc.
  • Solution oriented attitude in the design, development, and support of automation strategies such as building test harnesses, develop test automation libraries etc.
  • Developing test frameworks which promote Maintainability, Flexibility, Extensibility and Scalability
  • Collaborate with other technical resources to suggest improvements for processes, best practices, and standards
  • Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
  • Ensure that project is tested end to end; coordinating QA testing with other scrum teams as necessary
  • Be an advocate of QA throughout the organization
  • Be accountable for the QA test strategy for their scrum team ensuring review and sign off from key stakeholders
  • Facilitation of inter-team communication across many agile projects within an organization
  • Presenting an aggregate view of testing utilization to high level management
  • Personal support, mentoring, and professional development for testers
  • Being an escalation point for testers
  • Budgeting or forecasting for testing as a service dependent on organizational process
  • Recruitment of QAs and Automation Engineers
  • Providing technical expertise, e.g. proper use of test techniques in appropriate cases
  • Ensuring the teams (Scrum Teams) implement and follow best practices to prevent defects
  • Goal setting, monitor the progress and providing constructive feedback to the testers/direct reports.
  • Responsible for upskilling other team members on the automation path
  • Deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems; ability to think abstractly

Basic Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in Computer Science or Computer Applications and basic concepts on Software Testing of client / server and web platform applications.
  • Experience in Verification, Validation, Testing Techniques, Testing Types, Bug Flow and familiarity with the concepts of SDLC and STLC
  • 9+ Years of industry experience
  • 2-3 years of people management experience
  • Experience in developing and testing/QA software applications. Familiarity with Test automation frameworks
  • Strong OOPS & programming skills using scripting/programming Languages: C#, C++, Java, Python to setup automation
  • Identify opportunities to improve maintainability of automation platform
  • Understand and apply Test Driven Development (TDD) concepts to test and debug automated solutions and customized tools
  • Ability to analyze the application and prepare an automation strategy for various levels (UI, Database, Services, Cloud etc.)
  • Ability to spot automation opportunities beyond automation of regression suite. For e.g. automation of integration testing, production readiness checks, etc.
  • Estimate and track automation ROI and reporting to stake-holders
  • Experience in working with different quality metrics.
  • Experience in providing effort estimate.
  • Ability to write own SQL for finding and modification of test data.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to proficiently understand Requirements gathering/Testing/Defect management and tracking
  • Strong ability to contribute to critical/complex projects and function independently within established framework
  • Ability to solve complex, non-routine problems and the provide the best solution through cost/benefit analysis
  • Ability to self-train him/herself on new tools and technologies related to Software Testing applied at work (for example Exploratory Session based Testing, Page Load testing, Failover testing etc.), Scrum methodology and its framework
  • Ability to learn and apply best practices of Quality and Test Management
  • Experience in Mobile Testing, API Testing, Performance Testing would be added advantage
  • Exposure to DevOps culture and practices would be a plus
  • Familiarity with leading technologies such as AI / Machine Learning / NLP / Robotics would be considered, as a strength
