Microsoft’s Tech for Social Impact (TSI) is an industry vertical team that works with over 280,000 nonprofits and United Nations agencies. TSI is mission-driven and balances social impact with the need to maintain a sustainable business model for how Microsoft scales digital transformation across the global nonprofit sector. 

 

The Tech for Social Impact Design and Engineering team sets the pace across Microsoft for rapidly developing nonprofit technology solutions anchored to the Common Data Model for Nonprofits that leverage Microsoft Business Applications, Power Platform, Azure, and Modern Work platform capabilities. 

 

You’ll design experiences that solve complex interactions with elegance and simplicity. The role’s broad scope will give you ample room to flex your design muscles—both on product priorities that have immediate impact on theDynamics 365and Power Platform businessesas well asexplorations that shape our long-term strategy, vision and UX direction.

As part of Tech for Social Impact’s Industry Design and Engineering team, you’ll have the opportunity to design products, features, and capabilities spanning Business Applications, PowerApps, Modern Work,Azure cloud platform, Power BI, Power Automate,Stream, andmanymore technologies.And as designers, our goal is to bring humanity andsimplicityto every productwe design.  

 

Responsibilities

You’re aUX leaderanddesignerwho loves to learn, solve challenges, and dream upbreakthroughideas. You've worked on multiple similar projects already, and you're looking for a new adventure. You’re a tireless advocate for the customer—enthusiastic about building and iterating on designs to discover what works best and applying your knowledge to create incredible software products. You're passionate about your interests, and you want to work on projects that will change the world for the better. 

 

You’ll be embedded with the Tech for Social Impact Design and Engineering organization, and work daily alongside Product Managers, Program Managers, and Engineers.  You’ll partner with fellowinteraction designers,content designers, visual and motion designers,andresearchers.Bouncing ideas around, formulating plans, and charting the path forward is your jam as much asanysolo design time. 

 

You're fluent at communicating with product managers and developersas well asinfluencing your team and studiotosimplify, integrate, andco-create successful customer experiencesthat work together. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications 

 

  • BA/BS degree (or equivalent experience) in a design-related field (e.g. Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Communication Arts, Information Design.) plus5+ years’ industry experience in interactive design, user experience and/or visual design. 
  • Experience partnering with engineering and product management to design valuable, usable, and feasible Cloud products.
  • Demonstrated breadth across IA, usability,IxD, and visual design. 
  • Ability to create highly polished design prototypes, mockups, and other communication artifacts. 
  • The ability to quickly turn around rigorous wireframes and mockups quickly in a fast-paced, interative environment 
  • The ability to scope and estimate efforts accurately, prioritize tasks and goals independently, and rapidly produce deliverables 
  • Proficiency in a variety of design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator,Invision,Balsamiq, and Sketch. 

 

Required Skills 

  • Passionatecuriosity forUX and UIandready for hands-on pixel execution 
  • Inclusive designis embracedas a challenge, not a limitation 
  • Biastowardssimplification ofinformation architecture 
  • Understandingand applyingcustomer feedback,research,and telemetry to the design process

  • Proficiency with Figmapreferred 
  • Skills with HTML, JavaScript, CSS a bonus 

 

Location 

We have flexibility on location, candidate can work at one of Microsoft Hub Locations or from their home office.  

 

Portfolio 

A strong portfolio isabsolutely criticalfor this role, both in terms of demonstrating your experience and as an example of your ability to create a compelling design presentation. Showcase your experience in UX and interaction design, particularly where simplicity and ease of use were a major concern.
