The job: Sr. Software Engineer | Cozi Location: Seattle, WA
Time Inc. is seeking talented, innovative engineers to join our team in Seattle, WA. In this role, you will be contributing across a suite of new and existing consumer products, including the flagship Cozi Family Organizer. Our engineers are focused on solutions that help our customers solve their problems, and also have an eye on building sustainable systems that can be maintained for many years. Our engineers take the long view and advocate for building software the right way. Responsibilities: You are responsible for the design, implementation, and operational excellence of software and services across a suite of consumer facing products. ● Create new functionality and modify existing functionality in the existing products. ● Own production services, investigate and resolve issues, bottlenecks, and inefficiencies. ● Provide thorough and readable documentation for all services. ● Participate in technical mentorship with engineers on the team by performing thorough code reviews, pairing, and ad hoc reviews of proposed solutions. ● Work with other teams across the company to share and establish best practices. ● Are passionate about code quality and lead by example to produce high quality, complex services and applications under tight timelines. ● Work with your team to write stories, groom the backlog, and help direct the course for our products. ● Collaborate closely with your fellow engineers during development and testing.
Qualifications: Successful candidates possess many of the following qualifications: ● Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field. ● 8-12 years of professional software development experience. ● 5+ years building applications deployed on AWS and the process to manage large data sets. ● Demonstrated deep understanding of REST, service architecture, monitoring, and the tenants of horizontal scalability. ● Experience developing complex and highly available services running in a production environment. ● Extensive knowledge of object oriented and functional software design patterns. ● Proven experience developing and owning production services and applications deployed in AWS leveraging continuous integration and codified infrastructure. ● Extensive experience using Python and SQL. ● Ability to translate user stories into technical tasks. ● Ability to estimate effort effectively. ● Strong communication, analytical and problem solving skills.
