Senior Payroll Specialist

Our Payroll department is looking for an experienced self-motivated system savvy Sr. Payroll Specialist to join our team. Reporting to the Sr. Payroll Analyst, the Sr. Payroll Specialist will work closely with the Accounting, People Ops and Benefits teams. The Sr. Payroll Specialist will be responsible for assisting with the timely and accurate processing of all payroll cycles and payroll associated tasks.

  • Ensure the accurate and timely end to end processing of US multi-state payroll in Workday.
  • Prepare manual checks for employee terminations or missed time upon request.
  • Review, process and audit timekeeping records for compliance with established standards utilizing Workday Time.
  • Perform a variety of payroll functions in including reporting of payroll records to business partners including accounting, stock administration and HR teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable payroll statutory regulations and best practices.
  • Provide prompt, friendly, and efficient customer service to employees who have questions regarding their pay, deductions, or the payroll process.
  • Audit payroll data to ensure accurate processing of wages, garnishments, tax withholdings and deductions.
  • Monitor tax notices, wage orders, and governmental correspondences; record tax payments and perform quarterly tax reconciliations in a timely manner.
  • Participate in Workday system upgrades and perform user testing for all payroll related enhancements when needed.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned, such as documenting workflows, improving processes and procedures, and periodic updates to payroll related forms.
  • Support the Payroll and Equity teams with the processing/recording of equity transactions (RSU vestings, NQSO exercises, etc.) on supplemental pay runs to enable timely tax deposits.
  • Participate in Workday year end process by ensuring accuracy of W2s.
  • Ensure Sarbanes Oxley compliance by adhering to internal control requirements, maintaining updated documentation for all payroll related processes and providing recommendations as appropriate.
  • Requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience with full-cycle multi-state payroll
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Experience working in a publicly-traded, high-tech, high-growth company preferred
  • Workday experience a plus
  • Working knowledge and experience with multi-state payroll and payroll tax rules and regulations in the US (federal, state, local)
  • Current experience and in-depth knowledge of payroll systems and reporting functions, Workday Payroll preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills required
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in addition to strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and work well in teams to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-growing environment where change is the norm; strong multi-tasking skills, and flexibility to switch from one project to the next quickly
  • Demonstrated ability to hold information confidential with use of appropriate judgment when handling sensitive data
