Vice President, Finance & Strategy

Zendesk is currently seeking a VP, Finance & Strategy, reporting directly to our Chief Financial Officer. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate and operations finance in a SaaS/Software organization and will personify the values and mission of Zendesk. Will need to be an inspirational leader who conveys the energy and credibility to accomplish our goals and the experience to lead and mentor a rapidly growing enterprise.

This role requires an in-depth FP&A background with a demonstrated track record of compiling information from a variety of departments to build a complete picture of where the business is both on a revenue and cost basis, leading the combined teams to provide deep insights to enable business decisions. This individual will serve as a key member of the corporate finance team and drive all strategic planning, financial planning, business modeling, forecasting and management reporting activities in partnership with the CFO.

  • Partner with the CFO and executive leadership to identify and execute actions, drive growth, and help the company achieve its long term financial goals
  • Lead company wide planning and provide guidance to key stakeholders at the company including product and GTM to ensure planning is in synch across the organization
  • Lead F&S across the organization, partnering with leadership to develop and implement strategic business plans and operating initiatives
  • Partner with senior C-level staff and their leadership teams and advise on all financial planning and analysis related activities
  • Provider of financial analytic support for investor relations activities
  • Manage the company P&L to ensure we meet and achieve all of our externally reporting guidance metrics and ensure leadership has visibility into risks and opportunities
  • Participate and advise on future year planning and strategy activities, and provide thought leadership around understanding business drivers and their impact
  • Manage in partnership with the business all business Investments (people, incentives, OPEX) and corresponding ROI
  • Keep management apprised of financial results/issues and emerging trends
  • Prepare proactive reporting and analysis of key performance measurement indicators including all revenue and expense drivers, portfolio mix and economic indices.
  • Identify issues and opportunities to improve financial processes and implement recommended solutions.
  • Partner cross-functionally to provide a breadth of insight and financial decision supportCreate analyses, commentary and presentation materials for Board meetings.
  • Deliver weekly financial updates, monthly performance analyses and quarterly rolling forecast.
  • Maintain the three-year strategic financial plan and coordinate lead annual and quarterly planning processes
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 15+ years professional work experience in financial analyst/manager roles
  • Strong executive leadership skills with experience in growing and leading a high-performance team of finance professionals.
  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership in ambiguous and frequently changing situations.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce and NetSuite desired
