We are excited to consider a remote engineer! Remote team members will be expected to work out of their home office.

Your Opportunity

Do you love the cloud? Does the opportunity to explore new technology excite you? We are looking for an experienced cloud engineer and technical leader to join our architecture team. You will design and build the software and tools our developers use daily to build, deploy, and troubleshoot services which accept terabytes of traffic every day. In addition to tooling, you will craft our solutions to routing traffic and understanding workload capacity. If you enjoy making developers and customers more efficient than this position is for you!

What your playground will look like:
  • A constantly evolving architecture, with hundreds of containerized services across multiple agile teams.
  • A hybrid datacenter / cloud environment accepting over 70 billion HTTP requests a day from our customers.
  • Linux, Kubernetes, Kafka, Java, Go and that’s just the beginning of the technologies in our stack.
What You’ll Do
  • Collaborate with the developer platform leadership to build our next generation cloud tooling.
  • Steer teams toward technical decisions that fit well with our long term vision.
  • Help teams choose the right tools for the job at hand and utilize the chosen technologies efficiently.
  • Communicate, communicate, communicate: Architects serve as the connective tissue between teams and organizations for all technical matters.
Your Qualifications

If you are ready for this job, you have spent years building or supporting large distributed systems in the cloud. You know how to design and roll out tooling, while also documenting it for others to understand. You keep up on tech trends and have open conversations with members of the team.

Must-have:

  • 8+ years of technical leadership helping engineering teams thrive
  • Experience working with one of the major cloud providers
  • Solid understanding of continuous integration and continuous delivery and the technologies to support them (Jenkins, Argo, Helm)
  • Experience with configuration management tooling (Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet)
  • Ability to collaborate and impact decisions at the interpersonal level
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice-to-have:

  • Exposure to a container orchestration system (Kubernetes, Mesos).
  • Experience with one of these languages: Node, Python, Go, or Ruby
  • Multi-cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP)
