Competitive Cost Analyst

Job Description Summary

Want to broaden your business knowledge but remain technically focused?  If so, Competitive Cost Analysis (CCA) provides a great mix of both hands on technical and business experiences while supporting current and next generation Server and Edge competitive cost understanding used to drive portfolio and product decisions.  CCA candidates will continue to grow and learn from Front End Procurement and Engineering Competitive Analysis peers all with strong product electrical, mechanical and/or program management knowledge focused on Dell and Competitive platform cost analysis and DTx cost optimization activities.     

As part of the Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) Procurement organization, Competitive Cost Analysis (CCA) team members are responsible for developing internal and competitive platform cost analysis and reporting.  CCA team members must possess strong technical aptitude and communication skills in a team environment, collaborating with system architects, engineers, marketing, procurement and platform program management during product teardowns, cost optimization and reporting activities. Candidates should be familiar with mechanical and electrical enterprise server or similar product manufacturing, assembly and costing.  Candidates should have the ability to build strong, long lasting business relationships and possess strong communication skills.  

Role Responsibilities

- Develop competitive product cost analysis and insights

- Collaborate with procurement, engineering and marketing teams during product teardowns, cost optimization workshops and CCA report out activities

- Ability to understand engineering schematics, mechanical assemblies, etc
- Knowledge of server / computer sub-systems and manufacturing/assembly

- Knowledge of hardware & software technologies, including market dynamics
- Develop and utilize Cost Modeling tools along with known market conditions to estimate should be cost when assessing competitive designs or other cost analysis
- Initiate or support innovation initiatives by leading and collaborating with x-functional teams
- Attend and participate in competitive teardowns to collect information for CCA report creation, comparison insights and to identify product improvement opportunities

- Program manage and collaborate with Engineering, Marketing and Procurement teams to gather necessary inputs towards developing CCA reporting

Requirements
- 4+ years of related experience in a professional role with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (EE/ME/IE/CS)
- 2+ years of experience in Procurement and/or Engineering
- Existing knowledge of competitive enterprise product cost analysis
- Knowledge of existing electrical and/or mechanical technologies and processes
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical sub tier suppliers and ODMs
- Fundamental understanding of Design For Cost/Value
- Cost expertise on structural commodities

- Strong program management skills
