Senior Principal Engineer - Embedded Controller

We lead and deliver the analysis, design, programming, debugging, troubleshooting or modification of software for firmware applications. Our team oversees programming activities involving analog and digital hardware as well as software operating systems. We also influence product development at all stages. What you’ll achieve
As a Senior Principal Engineer with the Embedded Controller team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing firmware on the embedded controller.  You will work with architects, external vendors, partners, ODMs, and other internal groups to deliver best in class solutions.
You will:

  • Design and implement firmware on embedded controller (MIPS/ARC/ARM core) processors in a single threaded/interrupt driven and in real time OS environment.
  • Implement solutions using C programming/assembly and conduct design/code reviews.
  • Work on all aspects of software development life cycle (using specifications to assist in design documentation, code development, debugging, validation)
  • Work with system and software architects on feature definitions, requirements, and behavior specifications.
  • Work with both internal groups and external vendors/partners/ODMs, define interface/protocol specifications.
  • Debug complex system software issues using analyzers and other hardware debug tools
  • Communicate and coordinate activities across local/remote, internal/external sites.
  • Provide technical advisement and direction to the team and other impacted stakeholders
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced developers

Essential Requirements

  • BSEE, BSCE, BSCS or related degree plus 8+ years of current embedded software development experience
  • PC architecture and windows operating systems, embedded controller development with both single threaded/interrupt driven and real time OS.
  • C programming, Assembly experience, Compilers, assemblers, debuggers.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematic diagrams
  • Familiar with latest technology (wireless charging, type C) and various HW bus interface (SMBUS, LPC, I2C, PS2, etc)
  • UEFI BIOS development a plus

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with Security Development Lifecycle (SDL). This includes process integration to manage SDL activities within the product architecture, development and production phases.
  • Familiarity with RTOS
  • Familiarity with Git
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies, as well as with using the Atlassian suite of tools (BitBucket, Bamboo, Jira, and Confluence)
