Experienced professionals sometimes take a career break for a variety of personal and professional reasons. Returning to work after an absence of two or more years can seem daunting. To help with this transition, UTC’s Re-Empower Program is designed specifically to help you bring your knowledge, experience and creativity back to the workforce.

The UTC Re-Empower Program helps support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities, enhance leadership skills, and continue their professional journey. Over the course of the 16-week program, experienced professionals will gain paid, on-the-job experience, have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive coaching to guide their return to work experience. Upon completion of the program, based on performance, Re-Empower participants may have an opportunity to convert to a full-time role.

The first cohort of the UTC Re-Empower Program will run from January 22, 2018 – May 11, 2018.

The UTC Re-Empower Program is a return to work program that helps support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities, enhance leadership skills, and continue their professional journey.

The program consists of a 16-week comprehensive cohort assignment, which offers a rich and rewarding experience and mentorship for program participants transitioning back into the workforce after a 2+ year career break, for reasons such as childcare, eldercare, career path change, illness, retirement or other personal matters. Selected experienced professionals will gain paid, on-the-job experience, have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive coaching to guide their return to work experience. Upon completion of the 16-week program, based on performance, Re-Empower participants may have an opportunity to convert to a full-time role.

Cohort II of the UTC Re-Empower Program will run from March 12 – June 29, 2018.

To qualify for the UTC Re-Empower Program, candidates must meet both program and position requirements.

Program Qualifications:
  • Currently be on a break of at least two years or more
  • Have a minimum of five years of professional work experience
  • Have an interest in returning to work in a full-time position
  • Have an ability to attend the Re-Empower Program Orientation at UTC Headquarters in Farmington, CT on January 22 – January 24, 2018
Position’s Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor degree Engineering or related technical degree
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience
  • U.S Citizenship Required

Cost Engineer
General Description:

Candidate will be part of a group of specialists responsible for developing and maintaining part cost models. The primary focus will be to estimate notional part values and assess the business impact of new product designs, new technology and product design changes. This is a manufacturing engineering position that requires extensive interface with engineering, collaborators, external suppliers, and the Partnership Program Office.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain part cost models
  2. Define estimating rationale to support part cost
  3. Maintain cost estimating methods and models
  4. Review engineering changes, part drawings and manufacturing data to analyze impact to manufacturing cost
  5. Support Technology Readiness and Manufacturing Readiness by providing cost estimates and evaluations
  6. Utilize cost models to identify War on Cost opportunity associated with manufacturing production

    The Manufacturing Part Cost discipline leads the advancement of part cost forecasting and analysis methods, assesses financial impact of new technologies and develops/implements manufacturing cost reduction projects.

    The team’s skills comprise expertise in the following areas: manufacturing engineering, process planning, cost estimating and supporting software tools.
