The Team:

This team is part of the global Application Operations and Infrastructure group that provides production support to Ratings Applications. These applications are critical for the analysts who drive the business through their actions. Team is responsible for the high availability and resiliency of these applications.

The Impact:

As part of global team of engineers, we provide production support for Tier-1 business critical applications. Troubleshoot application related issues and work with Database team to triage Major Incidents. Contribute to delivery of innovative and continuous highly reliable technology services. Strong focus towards developing shared integration services with automation and cloud enablement, guide the team to design technical solutions. Become an integral part of a high performing global network of engineers working from India, Denver, New York and London to help advance our technology.

  • In-depth knowledge of the Oracle, PostgreSQL, NoSQL (MongoDB/Couchbase) Databases architecture & real time messaging/streaming data using Kafka/Confluent
  • Extensive Knowledge on Migration from Oracle to PostgreSQL/NoSQL databases (MongoDB/Couchbase) and Knowledge on Migration Tools
  • Transforming DBA team to SRE though automation of Toil, setting/ measuring & adhering SLO’s/SLI’s & SLA’s
  • Administration of PostgreSQL & NoSQL databases throughout the development and production lifecycles
  • Create and enforce database standards & security, authentication, encryption, masking, data protection techniques for all production & non-production databases.
  • Drive end to end availability, instance/performance monitoring and capacity planning for using different tools.
  • Manage & Automate backup and recovery functions for a PostgreSQL & NoSQL environment.
  • Design, document & implement heterogeneous replication between multiple database products (Oracle to PostgreSQL/MongoDB & vice versa.)
  • Setup database backup’s, database protection and high availability solutions.
  • Collaborate with development, architecture, and release teams, providing architectural design recommendations, driving standards for effective PostgreSQL/NoSQL  transition to production operations.
  • Create & manage repository of documents and standard, secure, high-performance configurations for all database installs.
  • Assist in optimizing SQL statements in applications, batch jobs.
  • Involvement in Architecture and Development design reviews for new implementation and integration projects.
  • Work with business users to understand needs, issues, develop root cause analysis and work with the team for the development of solutions and enhancements.

  • Implement automation to build fast, reliable, and resilient production systems and support them.
  • Manage, innovate, and create processes, software and tools that continuously improve the availability, scalability, latency and efficiency of platforms
  • Database provisioning & management, storage management, replication, backup & disaster recovery
  • Engineering and implementing proactive monitoring of infrastructure & databases.
  • Hands-on working experience in Data modelling, Performance Tuning, Data Archiving, technical design/coding, Backup/Restore and HA & DR implementation.
  • Database refreshes, Data masking, Data integration & security with encryption.
  • Database Change Management, Code governance & ensure best practices are followed.
  • Awareness of security frameworks like NIST to address technology, information and resilience risk, information security and risk management
  • Support & transform ITSM process – Incident, Change & Problem management to align with DevOps maturity.
  • Establish relationships with business teams & other IT partners. Identifying and measuring KPIs like CSAT scores, establishing feedback channels which have a direct correlation to user experience.
  • Infrastructure cost management through forecasting consumption, budgeting, tagging assets & tracking cost, disposing unused allocations & right sizing, optimizing usage & correlating cost to business value
  • Establish incident & defect review process to help guide and continually improve stability of applications
  • Ability to architect high availability application and servers on cloud adhering best practices.
  • Shapes and leverages advanced conceptual thinking to solve complex and/or completely new or novel situations that have never been dealt with before.  Actively pursues innovative solutions that align with the company’s tolerance for risk (business and reputational).
  • Looks at external companies, products and capabilities and how they may accelerate Ratings technology initiatives
  • Database Blue-Green Deployment
  • Decomposing monolithic databases for microservices architecture
  • Running databases in multi-cloud and multi region environment
  • Replication/multi master replication with SQL and NoSQL databases

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors’ degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering is required, or in lieu, a demonstrated equivalence in work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in Database Operations of Oracle, Postgres, NoSQL (MogoDB/Couchbase) including database administration, performance and application issues. Experience in streaming data using Kafka/Confluent is an advantage
  • Experience in working on Cloud (AWS/Azure), Network and Operating system
  • Proven experience in successfully leading large scale migrations, redesign and uplift of operating resiliency programs
  • Experience in technology support infrastructure and processes, working closely with key partners and stakeholders to determine and meet multiple business objectives around business continuity and resiliency
  • Experience in application & data architecture, system design, algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and software design
  • Experience working in Agile software product development.
  • Ability to perform technical deep-dives into code, networking, systems, databases and storage configuration
  • Ability to conduct discussions with CXOs.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in managing, coaching, inspiring, growing and building highly effective teams.
  • Experience in Automation working in Site Reliability Engineering Organization
  • Knowledge on Kubernetes and running databases on Kubernetes will be an advantage
  • Knowledge on BigData working on AWS EMR, Data Bricks & Data lake an advantage

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $122,200 to $190,100. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.

In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
