The Chief Architect will be responsible for guiding direction and promoting continuous evolution of Zendesk’s SaaS platform and products, including strategic technology decisions, architectural upgrades and partner integrations. The Chief Architect will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Engineering. In this capacity the Chief Architect will engage with architects, technical leaders and teams globally to oversee and inspire the evolution of our shared platform.

●Play an active and strategic role in the senior engineering leadership team and beyond.

●Effective at influencing a culture of engineering craftsmanship and excellence.
●Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and Operations on the give-and-take of living engineering and product roadmaps.
●Participate in strategic design and implementation discussions.
●Will travel to international offices regularly

●SaaS architectural expertise - especially at massive scale in a multi-tenant environment
●Excellent collaboration and communication skills
●A keen understanding of great engineering culture
●Able to collaborate on long-term architectural vision, and articulate and evangelize that vision in and out of the company
●Capable of being an active, public face of Zendesk Engineering
●Breadth of knowledge and passion spanning front-end and back-end technologies.
