    The Technology team at Bridgewater engineers systems to understand the world.  These systems synthesize and industrialize our global understanding into a hive mind of macroeconomic knowledge which enables us to educate and collaborate with the world’s most influential central banks and policy makers and carefully and strategically manage the world’s most important capital.  Our technologists are engineering highly available, high performing and highly secure cloud platforms and infrastructure which support and scale our investing operations.

    Research Department
    The goal of the Research department is to fundamentally understand how the global economy works. Embedded within the Research department is a uniquely talented technology team that builds and manages the tools that allow our macro economists to conduct their research and understand the world’s economies at a level we believe no other firm is capable of. These tools and platforms tackle problems from data ingestion, to storage, to data modelling/visualizations, to signal creation to name but a few.


    Position Responsibilities
    As a Sr. Site Reliability Engineer you will work with our Investment Community and Research Software Engineers and be responsible for running production services with a high level of ownership and managing their Service Level Objectives (SLOs). This will involve responding to, mitigating, investigating and escalating incidents when they occur through an on-call rotation. You will be a partner to product and engineering teams to ensure that your services operations over time are improving to enhance our business effectiveness. These improvements will happen through your input on priorities, roadmaps, risk management and overall service strategy. In addition, you will be responsible for engineering work for services and tools across the portfolio through a combination of Systems and Software Engineering. Your work will encompass designing and writing code that focuses on the reliability and/or efficiency of services and processes. It will also include system design reviews and using monitoring, logging and alerting tools and processes to manage our tools over their life cycles.


    Preferred Requirements
    • Large scale software development and DevOps/SRE tools, processes and mindset
    • Expert knowledge of at least one programming language (Java, Python, C/C++, Scala, Ruby, Golang etc.)
    • Strategic thinking, complex problem solving and analytical capabilities
    • Demonstrable experience with a leading cloud provider (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
    • Excellent communication, diagnostic and issue resolution skills
    • Preferred but not essential - a degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering)
