Area Sales Director

Employment: Full Time Experience: Lead

Leads a team of outside Regional Sales Managers making joint sales calls, conducting training and mentoring employees to attain assigned sales objectives.

Provide aggressive leadership and be accountable for sales quotas and shipments target for assigned territory and/or region.

Recruit, manage and direct assigned Regional Sales Managers (RSM).

Make joint sales calls and promotional visits to prospects and customers as required to assist in regional quota achievement

Conduct formal and informal training for RSM's in all facets of company sales operations, value proposition and company products

Execute marketing strategies throughout the assigned Area, coordinate and attend national and regional trade shows

Monitor and approve expenses associated with sales staff

Mediate customer problems as required and contribute to successful delivery through achievement of customer satisfaction

Assist in the response to RFPs/RFIs/RFQs and quoting activities

Provide sales account leadership, closing and negotiation skills, including direct sales in unassigned territories

Recruits, selects, trains, assigns, schedules, coaches, counsels/mentors and disciplines employees; communicates job expectations; plans, monitors, appraises and reviews job performance; enforces HR policies and procedures.

Performs all required administrative functions necessary to the position in a timely fashion, including accurate, timely submission of expense reports, area sales forecasts, pipelines, performance appraisals.

Significant travel associated with this role (75%+)


Bachelors degree preferred


10+ years experience in commissioned outside sales positions

5+ years in a supervisory/management role

Strong leadership, interpersonal and communications skills

Public Safety/government sales/marketing experience a must

Selling experience in a high-technology market a plus

Knowledge of SalesLogix a plus


Knowledge of SalesLogix

Strong management and leadership ability in sales environment
