Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) Sensors Team is helping build novel products in Augmented and Virtual Reality. Facebook AR/VR research and development in Sensors and Sensing Systems is driving the state of-the-art forward through relentless innovation. Our team explores, develops, and delivers new cutting-edge technologies that serve as the foundation of current and future AR/VR products at Facebook. We are looking for candidates with experience in mechanical design from concept to manufacturing, including 3D CAD modeling, Finite Element Analysis, and fast iterative prototyping to assist with the development of novel hardware products within the FRL Sensors Team, while collaborating with experts across multiple domains.

  • Collaborate with other engineers and researchers across Facebook to develop novel hardware products that advance the state-of-the-art in AR/VR systems and wearables
  • Deliver mechanical and physics-based modeling, simulation, and analysis in support of the development and integration of high-performance sensors for AR/VR systems and wearables
  • Organize and lead design reviews, solution brainstorm sessions, and disseminate findings
  • Work with the team to help design, setup, and run practical experiments related to sensor systems in AR/VR products and wearables

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related fields
  • 5+ years’ experience in designing and shipping mid to high volume products
  • 5+ years’ experience in Finite Element Analysis using COMSOL or ANSYS
  • Experience in CAD design tools, such as SolidWorks and NX for parts, assemblies, drawing generation, GD&T, and configuration management
  • Familiarity with PDM document management system
  • Demonstrated experience with a variety of manufacturing methods such as CNC machining, injection molding, stamping, die casting, forging
  • Demonstrated experience in cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
