The Wall Street Journal is looking for an UX Research Intern to join the WSJ Product Design team.The WSJ informs readers of the events and decisions that drive the world forward. As a UX Research Intern, you will be a voice and advocate for users of our website and apps, learning about their goals, desires and preferences. You will learn from and work alongside product managers, designers, engineers, editors, interactive graphics editors and business stakeholders. Ultimately, you will be helping shape the future of how we deliver news to our customers.
Responsibilities and what you’ll do:
Learn from a multidisciplinary team including Product, Editorial, Engineering, and Design
Support the in-house Product Design team in informing UX decisions across all WSJ products and features
Have the opportunity to focus on and take ownership of a particular project or larger initiative that spans the course of the internship
Understand and maintain best practices for UX research disciplines at WSJ
Demonstrate all product-related UX documentation with sound and clearly communicated rationale
Take part in design communication across a multidisciplinary team throughout each phase of a project
Stay informed with design trends and techniques, and proactively pursue knowledge for professional development
Required Skills & Experience:
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Basic understanding of rich interactive, consumer, or enterprise web applications
Experience conducting, analyzing and communicating UX research
Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in HCI, Communication Design, BFA, or related experience
Experience with industry standard digital product design tools (Sketch, Adobe CC, Omnigraffle and prototyping software such as InVision)
Understanding of latest Web and App user experience best practices
Understanding of user-centered design principles
