Employment: Full Time Experience: Senior

We are looking for a technical engineering manager to nurture, grow and lead our Core Infrastructure Engineering team. This team builds foundational storage services and frameworks for rest of the Zendesk product engineers.

In this role, you will guide and help to ensure the happiness and productivity of the team. Zendesk engineering organization is globally distributed and we rely on asynchronous communication. We expect you to have strong written communication skills to gather requirements from other teams as well as influence adoption of team's work.

  • Guide the development team's vision, practices and priorities
  • Work with the Architect to define roadmap and coordinate work to execute it.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentor team members
  • Understand scaling challenges in a growing, geographically distributed system and plan for successful delivery in small iterations
  • Serve as hiring manager for the team.
  • Plan and support career development of team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years working as a software engineer
  • 2+ years of leading engineering teams
  • Proficiency in at least one of the following languages: C/C++, Java, Scala or Ruby on Rails
  • Comfortable in working with globally distributed teams
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with large scale SaaS architecture
