Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Power Electronics Group is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for the development and ongoing support of new and existing electrical designs used in surface ship and submarine propulsion and power generation systems for the US Navy. The Power Electronics Group consists of incredible people with backgrounds in Mechanical, Electrical, and Systems Engineers with focus on Control Systems and Electromagnetic Design. The Power Electronics Group is one facet of the Hardware Engineering community which also includes Mechanical Design, Thermal and Structural Analysis, and Materials Analysis to name a few. We are seeking an Electrical/Power Electronics Design Engineer with knowledge of and experience with circuit design/analysis and power electronics design to military, space, or aerospace standards to join our team located in Sunnyvale, CA. Essential Functions: • Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, and systems.  • Designs electrical equipment, components, products, and systems for Department of Defense (DoD), commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.  • Tests and troubleshoots designs from a validation perspective.  • Utilize knowledge of components integrated into larger electric machine systems.  • Utilize knowledge/experience of electrical testing to characterize machine performance, design for EMC/EMI testing and control systems. Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 2 years related experience; Master’s Electrical Engineering with no related experience • Circuit Design and Analysis experience required. • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electronic circuits. • Power Electronics design experience. • Demonstrated capability to perform assignments on time and within budget. • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD secret security clearance. OR • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 5 years related experience; Master’s in Electrical Engineering with 3 years related experience; PhD in Electrical Engineering with 0 years of experience. • Circuit Design and Analysis experience required. • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot electronic circuits. • Power Electronics design experience. • Demonstrated capability to perform assignments on time and within budget. • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD secret security clearance.   Preferred Qualifications: • 2 or more years of work experiences with DoD related products. • PCB/CCB design ability and experience. • Experience with Electromagnetic Interference testing and design for mitigation. • MATLAB/Simulink proficiency. • C/C++/C# proficiency. • Understanding of FPGA concepts and programming. • Experience working with Large Scale Rotating Electric Machinery. • Control system design, modeling, and tuning - Electrical testing of electric machines and associated insulation system including but not limited to SSFR, Source Impedance, IR, PD, etc. • Current DoD secret security clearance. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
