Position Description:


The Microsoft Business Operations Data Engineering team is looking for a talented Site Reliability Engineer to design, build & operate business oriented services for Microsoft.

The successful candidate will be at ease leading the architecture for the next generation of Data Engineering Platform as we move into PaaS, Performance Tuning SQL, and SSAS, Troubleshooting across complex distributed systems, and leading incident investigations & capable of identifying root cause in a complex, distributed environment.

  • Conduct Troubleshooting and determine Root Cause of complex cross product issues (ADF, Data Bricks, SQL Server, SSAS, SSRS, PowerBI, Power Platform, etc)
  • Conduct performance analysis/tuning
  • Ensure accurate service capacity planning.
  • Build tools, develop efficient support processes, & contribute to our knowledge base.
  • Plan & conduct proof of concept projects with new technology & processes.
  • Build / Optimize monitoring & self-healing capabilities.
  • Collaborate at depth with peers in Development & Program Management.

Basic Qualifications (must be quantitative):

  • Degree in Computer Science, or similar subject (Data Science, IT, Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Math, Statistics), or relevant industry experience equivalent to a degree.
  • 2+ years experience in Site Reliability, Service Engineering, or an Operations team delivering industry-leading technical solutions with the highest quality.
  • 2+ years experience writing code in C# or a similar high level language.
  • 2+ years experience writing scripts in PowerShell or a similar scripting language.
  • 1+ years of experience with ITIL, MOF, or other industry standard operations / support framework
  • 1+ years knowledge / Experience with DevOps
  • 2+ years experience working in an Agile environment. SCRUM, etc.
  • 2+ years experience with continuous delivery & configuration management
  • 2+ years experience with telemetry, instrumentation, monitoring, & alerting.
  • Strong analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, commitments & projects.
  • A passion for customer experience & usability, including successful delivery of customer self‐service tools & automated management/optimization of services.



Preferred Qualifications (can be quantitative & qualitative):


It is desirable that you have one or more of the following MSFT certifications;

  • Azure Infrastructure
  • Azure Architecture
  • SQL Server Administration
  • Windows Server Administration
