As a Solutions Architect, you excel at leading and facilitating the design, development, integration and deployment of various technologies in support of Spectrum Enterprise efforts. Using a hands-on approach and an innovative mindset, you define the application and architecture to ensure solutions are built with a consistent framework. You drive projects by leading the creation of design processes and documents that ensure consistency in development across the organization. You mitigate risks by performing product evaluations and proofs of concepts. You perform analysis and simulations to perform systems and applications performance characterization and trade-off studies.

You serve as a technical and business-savvy resource to software engineering and architecture teams and align them with a standard set of technologies and frameworks. You implement and improve core software infrastructure and design patterns by participating in software development lifecycles, technical operations and technology innovation. You excel at sharing highly complex information to gain acceptance of new technology and business solutions and anticipate and prevent issues and roadblocks. You maintain relevant knowledge of new capabilities in the marketplace and encourage others to continuously learn and apply modern technical or process approaches while setting a high standard for the delivery of solutions. You flourish in an office environment collaborating with teams across Spectrum Enterprise. You report to the Director of Application Architect & Data Engineering for goals, guidance and assistance.

What you will do:
  • Drive company-wide excellence through active and consistent support of all efforts to simplify and enhance the client experience.
  • Support data operations for reporting, analytics, applications and data science by creating and maintaining scalable, reliable, consistent and repeatable systems.
  • Drive data operations processes through the collection and processing of raw data at scale, including writing scripts, web scraping, calling application programming interfaces (APIs) and writing SQL queries.
  • Maintain, improve, clean and manipulate data using extract, transform and load (ETL) processes.
  • Profile data to measure quality, integrity, accuracy and completeness.
  • Improve department processes by implementing tools, scripts, queries and applications for ETL and data operations.
  • Deliver solutions by developing, testing and implementing code and scripts.
  • Produce reports and uphold data delivery schedules for senior leadership to leverage.
  • Maximize the department through the management of multiple data source lifecycles.
  • Increase delivery speed of data by implementing workflow automation solutions.
  • Perform additional duties related to the position as assigned.
Required keys for success:
  • One or more years of experience as a Linux, Unix or CentOS system administrator.
  • Two or more years of hands-on experience with RDMNS, SQL, scripting and coding.
  • Intermediate knowledge of coding and scripting using Python, R or shell scripts.
  • Extensive experience with SQL, Tableau or similar tools.
  • Background in Linus and CentOS installation and administration.
  • Knowledge of data storage that demonstrates the correct use of a file system, relational database or NoSQL variant.
  • Track record of effectively using Spark and Hadoop.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute multiple tasks.
  • Passion for learning new techniques, methods and concepts regarding data.
  • Interest in learning programming languages.
  • Effective written and spoken English communication skills with all levels of an organization.
How you will stand out from the crowd:
  • Three or more years of experience designing and implementing REST-based services and event-driven architectures.
  • Three or more years of experience with Domain-driven design techniques.
  • Six years of experience in enterprise, application or information architecture.
  • Intermediate experience with date warehouse, data lakes and ETL techniques.
  • Experience designing and implementing full life cycle continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines.
  • Development and delivery experience with multiple programming languages, including Java, JavaScript, .Net, Kafka, Neo4J or Python.
  • History of facilitating software design and design thinking sessions.
  • Applied knowledge and experience working in agile, scrum, and DevSecOps teams.
  • Knowledge of modern software delivery methods like test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD).
  • Self-starter and quick learner with the ability to innovate and communicate proactively.
  • Strong interest in anticipating challenges and creating alternative courses of action.
  • Track record of working with a team and others around an organization on mutually beneficial solutions while challenging any complacency or lack of ownership.
Your education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or a related field (required).
