We are currently looking for a Procurement Commodity Manager to join the Thales IFEC team in Irvine, California.

The Procurement Commodity Manager will work closely with the Thales Corporate Procurement Department in order to properly leverage existing contractual relationships

Key Responsibilities;
  • Ability to achieve Division goals as defined by Procurement objectives and by the Thales Global Corporate Policies.
  • Work closely with the Thales Corporate Procurement Department in order to properly leverage existing contractual relationships for additional synergy and leverage.
  • Develop, define and execute the commodity strategy, driving current marketplace analysis and full engagement of the business unit and global team to secure the lowest competitive cost position and business needs are met.
  • Identify and achieve annual savings opportunities, negotiate reductions, and reporting in the appropriate format and in line with procurement KPI’s and tools.
  • Develop and issue RFIs and RFPs as appropriate to identify the optimal sourcing solution in accordance with business, commercial, and technical requirements.
  • Work closely with supplier contracts manager and internal legal counsel to establish supplier contracts, as well as monitor and track adherence to existing agreements.
  • Take the lead on commercial negotiations and terms and conditions for supplier contracts
  • Identify and manage supplier risks and business opportunities as part of an integrated team approach
  • Develop and manage supplier contracts, mitigate business risk for ongoing SLAs, and manage compliance to On time delivery, On Conformance Delivery and On Budget performance.

  • Reports and regularly communicates all the required commodity information in addition to coordination and participation in regular supplier business reviews.
  • Reviews and/or partners with Engineering and or Program Management Office to develop complex statements of work.
  • Working collaboratively with lead internal project team(s) as well as supplier project team(s), ensuring future business needs are identified and fully supported.
  • Apply and take accountability for the Total Cost of Ownership of sourcing decisions to meet the defined requirements of a business or market entity. Accountability for Total Cost of Ownership includes material cost, long term assurance of supply, supplier performance and selection and procurement information/data management.
  • Ability to gather relevant benchmark data, supply market intelligence to internal business partners that helps facilitate the selection process for new suppliers
Experience And Skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 6 years relevant experience in Supply Chain Management
  • Ability to demonstrate previous procurement and negotiation experience in a technical environment, or engineering industries.
  • Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation and management of major contracts including major international organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in requesting and analyzing large domestic and international supplier proposals.
  • Must possess the ability to develop ad-hoc reporting mechanism(s) for both internal and external use and discussion
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills including working in an international, multi-cultural environment with the ability to adapt quickly to change
  • Working knowledge of supplier contracts and legal terminology with regards to supplier agreements.
  • Strong supplier management skills, with an emphasis on cost reduction and performance improvement
  • Excellent knowledge of ERP system - SAP experience desirable
