Formed just over 5 years ago, the Financial Reinsurance (FinRe) team has responsibility for marketing, developing, structuring, and executing financial reinsurance deals for our US Life insurance clients and has already generating over $10 billion in transactions for the company. It’s viewed as one of the greatest growth potential areas for the organization and is staffed with an experienced and diverse team, focused on developing innovative and creative solutions for our clients.

As the Financial Reinsurance Analyst, you’ll be exposed to all aspects of the FinRe business; providing you with valuable insight to not only our clients’ financing and strategic objectives – but a greater understanding of the industry as a whole.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Assist in developing and marketing new client solutions, create models for internal and external purposes, and prepare presentation materials for client meetings;
  • Responsible for tracking client financials, earning reports, investor day presentations, and research reports to keep the team apprised of potential client issues;
  • Supporting the greater team in compiling various elements with deal execution involving response to RFPs, client negotiations, preparation of approvals, etc;
  • Develop pro-forma financial statement models specific to deals, with minimal oversight;
  • Organize, evaluate, and analyze data provided for deals.

Your profile


First and foremost, you’ll demonstrate a natural desire to provide exceptional outcomes through your energy, enthusiasm, and initiative.

Specifically, we’re looking for the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration (Finance, Accounting), Economics, Actuarial Science, Financial Engineering, Math, Statistics, or equivalent. Liberal Arts majors will also be considered if demonstrated high analytical ability;
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale;
  • Relevant work experience, having completed at least one internship or co-op work term (preferably in investment banking, asset management, private equity, consulting, and/or Life (re)insurance;
  • Excellent communication skills – spoken & written, formal/informal presentation;
  • Demonstrated ability to create and manage positive professional relationships with good client service acumen;
  • Proven capability to multi-task and successfully self-manage multiple priorities and projects of various significance;
  • Exhibits solid organizational skills and rigorous attention to detail/accuracy in a fast-paced environment;
  • Demonstrates teamwork and leadership qualities;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word;
  • Programming skills is considered an asset but not required (such as, but not limited to: Python, Java, VBA, C/C++/C#, etc);
  • Experience with financial modeling is considered an asset – particularly with building Excel models from scratch or from an existing template;
  • Knowledge of the life insurance industry and products is considered an asset.
