dv01 is lifting the curtain on the largest financial market in the world: structured finance. The $16+ trillion market is the backbone of everyday activities that empower financial freedom, from consolidating credit card debt and refinancing student loans, to buying a home and starting a small business.

dv01’s data analytics platform brings unparalleled transparency into investment performance and risk for lenders and Wall Street investors in structured products. As a data-first company, we wrangle critical loan data and build modern analytical tools that enable strategic decision-making for responsible lending.  In a nutshell, we're helping prevent a repeat of the 2008 global financial crisis by offering the data and tools required to make smarter, data-driven decisions resulting in a safer world for all of us.

More than 400 of the largest financial institutions use dv01 for our coverage of over 75 million loans spanning mortgages, personal loans, auto, buy-now-pay-later programs, small business, and student loans. dv01 continues to expand coverage of new markets, adding loans monthly, and developing new technologies for the structured products universe.

To get a better idea of what a year at dv01 looks like, check out our 2020 Year in Review page here: If that looks like fun to you, get in touch because we'd love to hear from you.

You Will:

  • Make an impact: as the first senior technical individual contributor on dv01’s brand-new cloud team, you’ll have a unique opportunity to shape how we work, who we are, and what we build.
  • Bring your experience and perspective to our team: you’ve worked in distributed environments, understand orchestration and microservices, and enjoy managing cloud-based infrastructure at scale.
  • Lead by example—you’re comfortable teaching, demonstrating best practices, giving advice, and bringing people up to speed. You take time to mentor junior engineers so they can build out their expertise.
  • Develop automation and self-service tooling to help other engineers help themselves
  • Design, implement and build deployment workflows: partner across engineering teams to automate our provisioning and delivery process for microservices, containers, and other infrastructure.
  • Create tools and utilities to keep our applications and services running smoothly.
  • Join us in practicing candor and transparency: we all learn from and support each other; we also hold each other accountable. You’re not afraid to ask tough questions, respectfully challenge ideas, or admit when you’re wrong.

You Have:

  • Strong cloud platform experience and profound understanding of at least one of the Big Three (Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, Azure.) While you are familiar with modern cloud-native abstractions (containers, serverless functions, etc.), you are also comfortable working with non-containerized workflows.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform, or the ability to learn GCP quickly.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems at scale. You understand what works well and what doesn’t. You’ve seen the good, the bad, and the ugly in infrastructure implementations and know how to avoid the pitfalls. You’ve walked this path before and care deeply about the quality and performance of the services you build.
  • Experience with orchestration technologies, such as Kubernetes, Mesos, or Nomad. (Bonus points for multiple orchestrators!)
  • You’ve written production-grade Terraform or Pulumi and can consult with teams on how best to automate their deployments.
  • A sense of professional stewardship: as a senior engineer, you understand the value of your experience. You take your role as a mentor seriously and are energized by helping your colleagues learn and grow.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity. You trust in your experience and the people around you to arrive at a good technical decision when given high-level goals. Because transition is about more than just technology, you work with your manager and peers to set the cultural direction that drives successful change.

As a remote company, communication is key to how we work. A cover letter helps us understand how you articulate your thoughts and ideas in writing. In your cover letter, tell us why you're interested in working at dv01, and what about this specific role interests you.
