    Position Overview

    Please note, this role can be located in San Francisco or Portland.

    Autodesk Research is looking for a talented senior web developer whose role calls for the design and implementation of modern Web based UIs.  Being in this role requires a passion for UX design, front-end development, with the basic skills for back-end support.

    As part of the Research & Development team, you will be instrumental in helping to demonstrate new and novel workflows. This position requires creativity, a broad vision, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with a variety of people and projects. 

    Joining this team means that you will be part of an extremely talented and creative group of people. You will be working with Research Scientists, as well as other Software Engineers, and UX Designers. We are creating software platforms, prototypes and experiences that move innovation quickly from the lab to our product teams and customers. We apply best-in-class software engineering technologies and practices to build the unique solutions that our researchers create. 

    This role is located in San Francisco, Pier 9.


    • Participate in the design and development of web-based user interfaces
    • Produce clean, effective, secure, maintainable and well-documented code
    • Be accountable for the features you are developing, from coding to delivery
    • Collaborate within Research as well as outside the organization
    • Conduct and contribute to design discussions
    • Participate in research projects that may fail fast


    • Passion for developing modern highly responsive web-based user interfaces
    • Basic UX skills and the ability to envision novel interactions.
    • 4+ years of hands-on web development experience with basic back-end experience
    • Proficient with ES6+, Git, package managers (npm/yarn), Node.js
    • Experience with REST APIs, both as a client and basic implementation
    • Experience with Amazon Web Services, (AWS), cloud environments
    • Creativity and out of the box thinking
    • Translating designs into high quality code
    • Good social skills - both in writing and face to face
    • Experience with front end software architecture
    • Familiarity with user experience (UX) best practices and tools (Figma, Illustrator, …)
    • Rapid prototyping skills
    • Proven examples of your work
    • Bonus: Github account with your work

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Engineering or related degree.
    • 2+ years of hands-on experience with React.js
    • 2+ years working experience in software development 
    • Experience with common front-end tools such as WebAssembly, Webpack and Babel
