General Assembly HQ in New York is looking for a performance-driven, analytically-minded email marketing manager to support the company’s largest revenue-driving marketing channel as we expand to new markets and deepen relationships with our subscribers. This person will report to our Sr. Manager of CRM & Email Marketing to play a vital role in driving GA’s email program across nearly 20 markets in 5 countries.



  • Act as a thought leader for new lifecycle initiatives, email content, subject lines, A/B testing, and new email products
  • Create and monitor automated lifecycle flows that support new subscriber onboarding; reengagement of lapsed subscribers; enrolled students; and alumni
  • Use data to help justify the prioritization of work that will improve our email products and processes — working cross-functionally with creative, engineering, and product teams to drive progress
  • Assist in building out new triggered campaigns based on purchase and browsing behavior
  • Conduct analyses of email subscriber value and key CRM metrics, identifying opportunities for new strategies
  • Oversee our global email marketing calendar, working with market stakeholders to ensure our programming is continually optimized and seamlessly executed
  • Own our weekly dashboard and report on trends for key metrics, A/B testing, and leads to key business stakeholders
  • Manage the relationship with our email service provider to stay on top of new product launches and ensure we’re using the tool as effectively as we can
  • Manage an email marketing specialist
  • Provide occasional QA/proofing support as needed


Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of email marketing experience
  • Experience editing email HTML
  • Experience working with an email service provider (Mailchimp and Sailthru is a big plus, but not required)
  • Familiarity with creating marketing automation flows and user journeys
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Have an eye for quality email copy and design
  • Ability to travel very occasionally
