We are currently looking for a Test Set Engineer to join the Thales Avionics, a subsidiary of Thales USA team in Irvine, CA.
The Test Set Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of test program sets for automated and semi-automated test systems. The emphasis of this position will be in improving test efficiency and adding new capabilities to existing test resources in support of world-wide repair activity.
Analyze customer requirements
Design and develop new or modified test program sets to support repair activity
Improve test efficiency
Add new test capabilities to existing systems such as troubleshooting and fault isolation capabilities
Support worldwide repair stations as needed
Analyze existing capabilities and suggest improvements
Modify existing code to reduce test time
Troubleshoot test failures
Help to segregate failures between hardware and software and between the UUT and the test system
Asses cost/benefits of different test approaches
Able to represent Thales when working with a customer on technical issues.
Presents ideas effectively to internal and external personnel
Can internally justify or explain the rationale for a process or technical change.
Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Software Engineering or Minimum five (5) years’ experience in electronics or avionics industry • Minimum two (2) years’ experience with LabVIEW programming, or equivalent • Program development and experience using test instrumentation such as DMMs, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, etc. • Instrument driver development • Familiarity with Ethernet, USB and RS232 protocols • Integration and testing of program code in an ATE environment • Experience in board level testing using manual bench equipment or automated test equipment
